Baker Nevada is remote which makes Great Basin National Park a good visit. There are no crowds like you'd see in Yellowstone or Yosemite. Being remote, Baker has only a couple options for where to stay. Whispering Elms is a decent place to stay. The rooms are clean and functional. The decor is a dated looking it like it was... More

Great place to stay when visiting Great Basin! Stayed in the motel last night and again tonight. Rooms are a bit dated (Quaint) but clean and comfortable. For the price they are perfect. The RV Park has nice shady elms, Chuck does a great job and is happy to help. Great to find a place where the manager really cares... More

I have stayed at this motel several times. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. This is the perfect destination spot if you're hiking and exploring the park and want to come back and relax. I'll keep coming back to this little piece of paradise out in the desert and I recommend it to travelers and hikers... More

We had to cut our stay short because of the cockroach problem. The room is not clean, has a musty smell. On our first day, we saw a cockroach on the floor. The second night my husband pulled the bed cover and there was a cockroach in our bed! After that we couldn't wait to get out of there. We... More

I'm giving 3 stars because I realize there are so few places to stay near Great Basin, and the location is great for that purpose. I do take exception with other reviewers that the rooms are quite clean. We stayed 8/11 & 8/12 in room #6 and I would not classify it as "clean". The dresser next to the bed... More

We spent one night here and found it quite adequate for our needs. It's difficult to rate this place because it's in the middle of nowhere with few other choices so by that standard, it's a great place to stay - but if you were to move it into another location, it might not compare as well. But the room... More

Really impressed by the Whispering Elms staff. Very helpful scheduling a place in advance, giving great directions and then, when we stayed in Ely because we were too tired to make it all that way, they refunded our entire reservation even though we violated their policy by not canceling 24 hours or more in advance. Great people and thanks Whispering... More

It was hard to decide whether to rate this place 4 or 3 stars. I finally decided on 4 due to the fact that the managers were super friendly and personable and are clearly doing the best they can with a place in the middle of nowhere without much traffic coming through. Sure, it's old and very dated with dark... More

Fantastic location just outside the entrance to Great Basin National Park. A no-frills room but clean, quiet, and comfortable with a fridge and microwave. Laundry facilities are available on the property. Friendly and helpful staff. We were glad to find them and we'd stay again.
