My car broke down in Baker and I needed a room. The motel managers hooked me up straight away! The rooms are old-ish, but clean and cozy. The mountains were so pretty, I stayed 2 more days. The bar/office was great after snowshoe hikes. I felt very well looked after.

We planned our 7-hour trip to arrive at Great Basin National Park (GBNP) mid week in hopes of getting a campsite in the park since they don't take reservations. No such luck. We were tired and at least one of us was extremely cranky so we headed to Whispering Elms (our backup plan). The spot under the trees and the... More

I booked this place a couple months ago for a trip last weekend. We probably could have gotten in without a reservation, though, since we were the only people there. You won't find luxury accomodations with 300 miles of here, but this place was more than I expected. Baker is a tiny town and this was the only place open.... More

Friendly staff, nice facilities and good services. Very uncrowded while we were there. Good large level sites are easy on and off. Was cloudy both nights so we missed the vaunted dark skies of the area and great star watching.

We booked this hotel for access to the Great Basin NP and was pleasantly surprised at the rooms. I was expecting bare bones, but the rooms were spacious, clean, and easily accessible for luggage transfer. The hotel staff were extremely nice and friendly. We certainly enjoyed our visit and would love to come back again.

We stopped here for a room on a roadtrip and visit to Great Basin NP. Spacious and clean rooms, average 70s cabin feel. Quiet and peaceful place. Chuck is a very accommodating, helpful and nice manager. We sat at the adjacent bar chatting and planning our trip. Beer and drinks available for take away. Regular laundry facilities.

We arrived late in the evening and were met on the road in by the manager. She directed us to the easily found, roomy site. We had full hookups. Our cell phones worked here, so we were able to use our phone as a hotspot. Im not sure if they offer wifi. We talked to the guy next to us... More

There are very few lodging options near Great Basin National Park. This place is a campground and bar with 6 motel rooms. The rooms are old and dated, but absolutely spotlessly clean. And the towels were nicer than most luxury hotels. The couple running the place were very friendly and helpful.

We wanted to see Great Basin National Park and Lehman Caves. Whispering Elms was extremely close. We were OK with our rustic, clean stay for such a fair price. We were able to sleep 4 in one room - and bring our small dog too for $5.00 fee (which the owner decided to waive for us). The management was helpful... More

We stayed here for four nights while visiting Great Basis National Park. The location couldn't be better unless you stay in the park. The motel is part of a larger RV park and tent camping facility. There is bar that does double duty as the office for the campground/motel and a friendly hangout in the evenings. We were ready to... More
