My girlfriend and I last summer ventured out on a road trip up the North Shore. We are 19 years old, so we were looking for location and were on a slight budget. The Inn ended up being perfect for us for the one night. You can't beat this location, right where you need to be. Front desk check in... More

We have always loved this place but it has gone downhill in every aspect but the view. Arrived late evening in October. Room temp was 56 degrees - eventually had thermostat up to 90 & room temp didn't budge. Tried calling from room phone to possibly get another room but no one answered. Ended up sleeping in our clothes to... More

I called to make reservations to this hotel in September. Our friends had stayed here last fall and it was an OK room, dated but seemed OK...the view is what I wanted with the deck on Lake Superior. When I called I talked to a sweet older lady who said she was the manager. I told her I was making... More

Funky little hotel right on the water and close to everything in town. Older but kept up with good sized rooms. Easy access to restaurants, galleries and shops and local sight seeing from the nearby point. I don't understand the earlier reviews about cleanliness and rude desk staff - my experience was completely satisfactory. The lady at the desk could... More

Reasonably priced place to stay on the north shore of Lake Superior. It is on the water, wonderful patio to have breakfast or just relax and watch waves. Was clean and comfortable, nothing fancy. Very easy walk to all restaurants, shops, and to scenic walks by the water.

Front desk staff rude. Don't think of arriving early and no public potty. Not sure what "qc" meant but it was not clean bathroom. Amazing view off the sun deck in comfy chairs and convenient to walking around town. Family room is 4 beds in one small room with one small bathroom overlooking the parking lot. Beds do not magically... More

We had the "family room", with a great view over the lake, with beautiful sun and moon rises. Unfortunately, the carpeting was old and filthy, and the tub / shower was also dirty, with soap scum and mold on the surrounding tiles. Continental breadkfast was fairly minimal (who needs fruit, anyway). Convenient to downtown and dining options.

We stayed here in the spring for 3 days, attending a wedding on the Gunflint. Our room was on first floor facing the Lake. Immediately we noticed that this hotel needed updates, and there was some structural issues due to walls and foundation shifting. T room was clean, bed comfortable, fan in the bathroom noisy. I would easily have given... More

While working in Grand Marais recently I stayed at the Shoreline. While I did not have a room overlooking Superior the one on the town side was reasonably nice. If possible, take one on the Lake side as the sunrises are phenomenal. The hotel was built back in the 50's and seems to have had some renovation over the years.... More

We have stayed at the shoreline three different years now. Last year we tried a different property the same owners managed. Although it was newer than the Shoreline, we missed the lakefront. We love haring the Lake Superior waves roll in. The view from the veranda at The Shoreline is the best and the location is close to shops and... More
