Its hard to compare amenities to location and the view. The rooms do need some help, but for the price and considering where you are its not bad. I will tell you; get a room on the back side of this hotel and leave your window open that night, and you will be awoken by one of the best views... More

I stayed at the Shoreline with my mom and infant son. I was greeted upon entry of the building by a friendly staff member. I did have to go around a large landscaping timber located on the stairs to enter the building. There was no issue checking in and we proceeded to go to the room. The key to get... More

I have stayed at the hotel for the past 40 years. These last years the hotel has been going down in quality of service, cleanliness, repair of items broken, etc. It looked like a trash house from the outside with broken awnings, screens, broken tiles on stairs, and rotted beams. When talking with manager of property about items mentioned above,... More

Location and service was great, but rooms are quite dated back to the 1970s feel and are quite expensive. Rooms are clean and the view is great.

The good: comfy bed, great location. The bad: worn, dirty rug, stopped up sink, no bed lamp, cramped bathroom, no elevator. The ugly: peeling wallpaper, rusty heater in bathroom and rusty door hinges, bird droppings on patio furniture, neglected plantings.

I was looking for a hotel to stay at in Grand Marais and a quick Google search turned up the "Shoreline Motel". I did not see any pictures before I booked, just the location. I was looking for a place right on the lake. Both rooms that face the lake and rooms that do not face the lake are available.... More

We stayed at the Shoreline while on a New Year's Eve ski trip to Lutsen and had a great time. Sure, the hotel was a bit outdated but it was clean, comfortable, the location was unbelievable (right on the water and a very easy walk to downtown) and the service was good. Shannah, a front desk representative, was especially helpful... More

The Shoreline Hotel in Grand Marais is literally steps away from Lake Superior. If you stay at the hotel, go out on the patio, and you will enjoy a beautiful view of the lake. We booked early and were able to get a room with a view of the lake. The hotel is run by the Grand Marais Hotel Company,... More

Location is good, out the back door and down to the Lake. We were very disappointed in this hotel. It was old and over priced. No attendent on duty in the evenings, overnight or early morning. No air conditioning so the windows must be left open. All the seagull, traffic and people noise can not be shut out. The beds... More
