Very nice, older hotel, doing some renovations, only drawback was no A/C and it was a very hot weekend, but the evening cooled off and we did have fans. They are located right on the Lake Superior Beach front, a rocky beach, with unbelievably clear water, and great for rock hounds! We plan to go back! more

We found the Shoreline on our first trip to Grand Marais in 1990. There's no pool, no fitness center, no in-room spa -- but in nearly annual trips since then, we have never considered staying anywhere else. Our family (including 2 young children) stayed at the Shoreline the last 4 years for 3-4 nights per visit. We were there in July/August when the weather is great and even during this "busy" season the hotel and the city were very laid-back and relaxing. We find the hotel comfortable and very convenient to walk to everything in Grand Marais.... more
