Sometimes I truly wonder where people are coming from. This establishment is locally owned and cared for by a wonderful lady, who couldn't have been more welcoming and responsive to our needs. Yes, the hotel is a bit older, so wear and tear is to be expected; however, the beds were comfortable, the water hot, coffee and treats in the... More

Overall, quite poor, but cheap. Rooms and public areas seem to be in a general state of disrepair. For example, someone painted the walls when a drywall needed to be repaired. The hot tub was more like a warmer swimming pool temperature. "Nestled in the woods surrounded by Aspen trees" as advertised really means "hotel surrounded by unkempt yard with... More

Lake Superior's famed "North Shore" is a drive all should take--one to be made in any season. Autumn is an especially wonderful time of year: the colors (foliage), the light on the water, the shoulder-of-the-season festivals in the little towns that dot the highway, the lack of bustling crowds, and so on. Our little party stopped short in Grand Marais... More

We have stayed with these folks several times - great rates, clean rooms. Nice, but not extravagant. DOG FRIENDLY!!!! Hard to find a spot traveling with our pets, but we have always been welcomed their. Great staff - nice, clean, comfortable rooms. Have a great hot tub on site - nice to warm up after being out in the cold.

The rooms were clean enough, but in bad need of updating their furniture. The table in our room was so wobbly it would fall over. Just needed a screw. The door wouldn't latch and electrical outlets didn't all work. Bathroom had been recently remodeled. For the price of $99 I thought it was a little high for the quality, but... More

We had very good accommodations at the Aspen Inn. The room was clean and spacious; however, the carpet had large spots. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was sparse; only cold cereal and oatmeal, yogurt, and bread with the usual juices, coffee, and tea. It is a quiet place to stay. Even though it is along the highway,... More

We stayed here in the spring. We were skeptical because of previous reviews but the rooms were clean (yes outdated to the 80's), the staff was friendly, and the morning breakfast was what would be expected (carb loading). The fact that it was on the edge of town made the place even better because then we didn't have to deal... More

Hotel lobby was tiny and smelled of cigarette smoke but room was fine. Hot tub was lukewarm, questionably murky and jets didn't work, some patio furniture dangerously broken. Was ok for us as we were there for one night only.

Great place to stay if you don't want all of the hustle and bustle in town...Relaxed on the deck outside the spa...quiet...rooms were clean and staff was friendly....what more do you need? Have been coming here a few years now and will return.

We stayed in what must have been the older section. The rooms were horrible. The hotel would be good as a $29/ night hotel at least then you get what you pay for. The hotel room smelled, the air conditioning didn't work, the bathroom door didn't shut, the a/c didn't work and looked like it was from the 70's and... More
