Our 4th year visiting the Cross River Lodge on the Gunflint Trail. Our family has been vacationing here the past 4 summers and cannot wait to come back year after year. John and Rose do an outstanding job day in and day out and make every one of their guests feel welcome and at home. It's hard to come up... More

Rose and I just don't know how to thank all of you for these wonderful reviews. We do work hard to make everything as nice as we can possibly make it. Our original business plan almost 6 years ago was 3 words and still holds true to this day...hospitality, cleanliness and value. Thanks to you all! More

The suite was luxuriously comfortable, with attention to details like providing quality binoculars, microwave popcorn, and utensils to make the most of the kitchenette. This on top of an excellent bed, a whirlpool tub, furniture that invites you to relax, and an unparalleled view from the deck. Beyond that, a personalized breakfast awaits you every morning, where John makes you... More

Thank you John and Rose for being such wonderful hosts! The Cross River suite was the perfect romantic getaway. it had the feel of a home away from home with many thoughtful touches and a north woods rustic decor. The view from our suite was fantastic. Watched a moose swim across the lake from the balcony which was very cool.... More

Why would you drive 1500 miles for a vacation? That's simple, John and Rose Schloot have created Paradise in the Wilderness. From the moment you Arrive until your departure you are treated as the center of attention for John and Rose. No request is hard for John, not even an arduous trek with the granddaughter. Our Suite(Cross River) was as... More

Another amazing trip to Cross River Lodge! This is our 3rd year enjoying this incredible place. John and Rose perfectly balance offering the comforts of a 5 star lodge while maintaining the focus of enjoying the untouched wilderness of Gunflint Lake and the surrounding BWCA. Our 9 and 12 year old sons look so forward to this trip every year.... More

There are plenty of places to stay along the trail, and all of these resorts and lodges are nice venues however, staying at CRL is a cut above the rest. I could have written a review on Cross River Lodge before I even booked my trip. I'm so confident that my time spent will be nothing short of awesome. Cross... More

WOW! The Cross River Lodge. Paradise in the wilderness!! My wife and I have been vacationing- fishing, hiking, and kayaking for many years in Northern Minnesota/Boundary waters. Each year we look for a new and better place to stay. We look for lodges that offer a warm atmosphere, good food, and friendly and accommodating hosts. After many years of bouncing... More
