Really beautiful and friendly place with the best continental breakfast we ever had! We stayed in a very clean two bedroom cottage/effiency with pot bellied stove and deck overlooking quiet lake. Offered many free activities to guest: paddle boats, canoe etc. beautiful lodge for guests to visit/watch tv/read. The owners/hosts were fabulous! More

My husband and I have stayed at Cross River Lodge for the past 2 years as a comfortable, relaxing retreat after several days of backpacking the BWCA. Doug and Paula have always made our stay a memorable one. This last year, our backpacking trip was cut short a day because of a series of follies on the trail; they were... More

I’ve been meaning to write a review about our wonderful time at Cross River Lodge since we stayed there over July 4th weekend (2011), but time got away from me. It’s truly a testament to the superb customer service and beautiful accommodations we received that I am taking the time to write this now! John, Rose, Paula and Doug are... More

Talk about CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I had to cut my summer trip short from Cross River Lodge due to a phone call from my wife, about her mother suddenly passing away. The night I had to leave the lodge we were about to sit down to some incredible bar-b-q ribs when I got the call, John and Rose packed a to-go... More

My wife and I stayed in the Cross River Suite for our first anniversary the 2nd week of October. It was an all around awesome experience and a wonderful place to truly "get away from it all." We enjoyed multiple meals at the very underrated Bistro at the Gunflint Lodge. The wAlleye quesadillas, wAlleye sandwich, walleye chowder, and buff chic... More

My family and I enjoyed our stay from Thurs - Mon in the "Up North" Cabin. The cabin was very clean, beautiful decor, comfortable beds, just like at home! Cross River Lodge is a beautiful small quiet place to stay. You couldn't ask for more friendlier or gracious hosts, John and Rose! Plenty to do, but also a wonderful place... More

My husband, the pooch and I (okay, the mutt didn't get a vote) decided on a somewhat spur of the moment getaway and lucked out in being able to get in - mid week - to Cross River Lodge. We couldn't have done better if we'd planned months in advance. This was our first trip to the North Woods and... More

We stayed in one of the cabins for a wedding that was being held across the lake. Our hosts were charming and the cabin wonderful. Hope to come back next summer with more family for a week instead of a weekend. More
