The seven-hour drive from Minneapolis for two nights in a romantic cabin at the Gunflint Lodge was very much worth the time and money. The northland in the wintertime is nothing less than magical. It's still and silent with no mosquitoes and no partying tourists. If you're wondering what to do in the northwoods in the winter, there's more than... More

We stayed in one of the rustic lake side cabins, 3 of us in one half of the cabin and 4 in the other half; each half of the cabin was a 2 bedroom cabin with nice living room and fireplace. We had the 2 meals a day package (there is no way we could have eaten three meals a... More

This place is worth the drive to get there. The location itself is beautiful and the staff has the right touch with everything they do. We stayed in Cabin 1, which has an outdoor hot tub and an indoor sauna and plenty of space to accommodate a large group. Games are already in the cabin and the Lodge provides free... More

This is a trip I won't forget! What a fabulous time me and my wife had. So beautiful there and very accommodating. Made new friends. The owner Bruce was so friendly. I really enjoyed listening to his great stories. We also saw lots of deer around the resort every day and saw some wolves. It was a winter wonderland there!

My husband and I just returned home from our five night stay at the GFL for veterans week. We stayed in cabin 23 which was a one bedroom unit about 75 ft. from the lake. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the entire experience. The food was outstanding and we ate in the Red Paddle restaurant two... More

I have been to Gunflint Lodge many times and always look forward to my next visit. We almost always bring our dogs as the hiking is so much fun and is some of the most scenic views, especially in the Fall. Best of all is the dining. The American plan is well worth the price as this is some of... More

We stayed in the canoer cabins with another couple and they were just right for us. It included a refrigerator, microwave, bunk beds, and a bunk with a full mattress on the bottom. The bathrooms were near our cabin, which was nice. This is a rustic place, but we loved it. The one downfall was that we didn't know you... More

My husband and I stayed at the Gunflint Lodge for a three night stay to celebrate my birthday. We stayed in cabin #4. The cabin was perfect, well kept and had all the amenities needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Beautiful views, dog friendly, great food, and plenty of activities to enjoy. We loved our time there and... More

I was here from Montana on the Women's annual retreat from Appleton, WI. Our accommodations was a 2 bedroom house with 2 queen beds each. It has a real wood burning fireplace (fully stocked with wood, kindling, paper and fire starters), dry/wet sauna, W/D and a full kitchen with coffee maker, dishes, toaster. There is also a tv and dvd... More

We went a long time ago, for our April 2013 honeymoon. We hoped for beautiful weather, but of course, we got slop and mud, ice and snow! The drive up is beautiful. We stopped in Grand Marais for our groceries, because husband and I are totally cheap like that. We didn't pick out any special packages, just booked our dates... More

Thank you for your comments from your visit in 2013. An April visit to the northwoods is at the whim of nature, and we have to work with what we get. We do our best to tell everyone that there will be ice on the lake in April but it is not considered safe. Our cross country ski season has... More
