I loved the lack of TVs, WIFI and phones as well as the countless board games and puzzles. We went out on a couple amazing hikes on the Superior Hiking Trail. The food at the restaurant was amazing and those cinnamon rolls were seriously the size of a head. It was wonderfully relaxing and fun.

We had expected to rave over Naniboujou..... But we were a bit disappointed... The bed was a sleep number & the most uncomfortable bed ever...... Room small & cramped...We were above the reception desk, so lots of noise & the restaurant wasn't anything special.... The views however made up for it.... Lake Superior.... So so lovely.. & the little beach... More

Many things at this property that are espoused as quaint are really just ways for the management to save money and have more profit instead of guest comfort. A hotel serves one purpose and that is to provide a clean comfortable stay for a guest in exchange for money. Period. I want to start with the positive. The location is... More

This place was built on the North Shore in the 1920s by Ring Lardner and some celebrity authors and sports figures of that time as a retreat. The local Indians did a lot of the work and it is still showing in many places such as the ceiling of the main dining room--spectacular. Some rooms are still of the style... More

Beautiful lodge built in the 1920s as a private club for Babe Ruth and other initial members. Native American designs and colors. Great restaurant. Stunning setting on Lake Superior. You are off the grid here -- no wifi, no cell reception -- but that is why you're here. Great stop on your way to hike, canoe, or kayak in northern... More

The window treatments are the cheapest, thinnest blinds I have ever seen. They do not block the light. Stayed 2 nights, in 2 different rooms. Both had the same terrible blinds. Woke up at 4:30 am each morning. After the second night I asked the front desk manager about the light issue. She said all rooms were like that they... More

When I went to this historic hotel I couldn't believe how quaint and beautiful this establishment was. It's been here for 95 years and has the most beautiful and colorful dining room with Cree Indian symbols painted on the walls and ceiling. Then there's the library of very old books within the hotel as well as High Tea daily. The... More

Would have been nice to know they don't allow liquor. We arrived on a Sunday and would have liked a glass of wine after our long drive. You cannot buy alcohol in Minnesota on Sunday and it was our 36th wedding anniversary so we toasted with water.

I've been here a few times and had lovely lunches. This time as we're hiking the North Shore we had to make a stop at Naniboujou because of its history and beauty. We had dinner that for me was just "meh". Tomato soup, house salad, walleye pan fried (way too greasy and no spice) w/ wildrice (dry) and mushy but... More

We had finished a wonderful two weeks out on the Gunflint Trail, and before heading south and west for home decided to gibe the Naniboujou Lodge a try. We were not disappointed, and will look forward to making a return. The food items were well prepared, flavorful, and tasty. Service was top notch. Being a former New Yorker and Yankees... More
