You don't get to the lodge by accident - it is way up there near the border with Canada but worth the trip. Rooms a little small but appear to be recently renovated, and very clean. open the windows and hear the surf of Lake Superior. The dining room is a showpiece - like a miniature version of the ballroom... More

I have probably stayed at Naniboujou at least 5 times in the past 15 years - even though I live far from Minnesota. There is an ambience to this Lodge that keeps drawing me back - even though the rooms are just barely adequate - small, a bit stark, and lacking any sense of luxury - think bare bones accommodation.... After a beautiful drive up the coast of Minnesota, we stayed at Naniboujou Lodge. We loved this place. It is very quiet and relaxing - no phones or tvs. The rooms are very clean and decorated very nice. The rooms are on the small side, again this lodge was built in the 1920's, but we are fine with a small... More

A group of us women [around 20+] from our walking/kayaking(spring)/snowshoeing{winter} group made reservations for a short outing to Lake Superior and a couple of overnights at Naniboujou Lodge. The dining area is beautiful and the breakfasts were good. We gathered in the sitting area after supper & enjoyed each others company after dark. We had a bond fire one night... More

My husband and I spent one night here and wished it could have been more! Built in 1929, the lodge is filled with character inside and out! Diane was wonderful and informative as she checked us in. Our room was small but comfortable with a lovely wood burning fireplace ready to be lit! Its just steps to the shore of... More

Some twenty minutes north of Grand Marais you will come across Naniboujou Lodge. It has been there for at least eighty years. Built to be a private club it was linked with Al Capone and Babe Ruth. The highlight is the colorfully painted and decorated dining hall and its oversized stone fireplace. We spent two nights at the lodge and... More

The special place is not to be missed if you are looking for a quiet place to unwind. The lodge was built in 1929 and has lots of atmosphere. It is steps from Lake Superior and the chairs at the beach welcome you to relax. No phones, tv, or wi-fi, but you don't need them. The restaurant serves the highest... More

Peaceful environment with great food, especially the desserts, and friendly staff. We did a great deal of walking right from the hotel along the shore and across the highway to the state park, didn't have to use the car for a whole day. We also bought grocery items in Grand Marais for our day trips, allowing us to save a... More

A beautiful lodge with an attentive staff, great food, great accomodations. Our knotty pine room overlooking Lake Superior was super clean and perfectly appointed for winter weekend. The staff (from front desk workers, restaurant servers to Chef Ed) were always helpful and friendly. A lovely snowfall provided excellent conditions for hiking and snowshoeing in Judge Magney State Park across Hwy... More

We have stayed here for a few nights each of the last three summers. We stay in connecting family rooms so our 7 and 10 year old have their own room and we have ours. There are no TVs, no phones, no wifi and little or no cell service. Know this going in to the experience. Days are spent on... More
