My family has been staying at Naniboujou for more than forty years now. It is a family tradition for all of us and for the last six years we have made it a destination in June for the women in our family. The kids are very excited to finally be "old" enough to come. Each year there is something comforting... more

I read about Naniboujou in a NY Times travel review. My family and I understand that it was different (small rooms, no TV, etc.), but were really looking forward to family time on Lake Superior. We had booked two adjoining rooms so that the kids could have their own room. Maybe it was just bad luck on our part. In... more

After reading about the Naniboujou Lodge in Midwest Living magazine, we decided to stay one night while on our Lake Superior circle tour. This is a very unique lodge, with an interesting history. The diningroom is stunning, and the food was good. We did have to wait awhile to get our food at dinner, but since the surroundings were so... more

Naniboujou is a lovely place where to enjoy a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere, out of the crowd, out of the daily life, and most of all out of the usual hotel-styles. There is a magic here that is hard to describe. I do not necessarily love the interior decorations of the dining room, but I cannot deny that the place has... more

My father and I fish for a week in Canada every spring, and for many years in the past had stayed at the casino near the border. After many bad dining experiences, we decided to stop into the Naniboujou Lodge (we had always just driven by and figured it would be too pricey) for some information. We booked our stay... more

I have mixed feelings after my recent stay at Naniboujou. I love the idea of the old private club right on the lake, but something is missing. Many of the things that make the lodge so attractive are also the same things that detract --like the location. It's great that it's remote, but plan ahead because if you get up... more

We stayed at the lodge for two nights recently. From the moment we got there until we left we were very disappointed. Unless you are just looking for a place to sleep (rather uncomforably at best) then this is NOT the place for you. The rooms were basically, a hard bed, a toilet and the worst shower ever. No TV,... more

I enjoyed my stay at the lodge although i'm not sure if i would go back. the lodge itself is an impressive place - truly unique in it's decor. it's almost campy with all the bright colors and mural covered dinning room walls. it is clearly not "authentic" native american decor but that adds to its kitschy appeal. the most... more

This is a drop dead gorgeous resort in the 1930s country club style. Admittedly, it's not for everyone-there are no telephones, radios or tvs in the rooms; but the real woodburning fireplace is so lovely (listen to it crackle and watch the flames). The quilts are handmade, the furniture handcarved, and the rooms are one of a kind (really). There... more

I stayed here last summer and enjoyed it to no end. It's on Lake Superior and just a few miles from Grand Marais. There's hiking and fishing nearby. It's a great way to get away from society for a weekend. The food is excellent. I would definitely recommend it for people who love the north woods. more
