We'd known of this place for years and frankly planned our SE Alaska itinerary around it. Though the garden is as pretty as its pictures, the rest of the inn doesn't measure up. The reception we received was anything but welcoming. During a multi-day stay, only one staff member ever introduced himself -- the owner. A woman we later realized... More

A rustic country inn in a tiny crossroads near a spectacular national park and they have amazing food too. How could this be bad? In fact, it is incomparably good. The staff, the grounds (my goodness, what a garden!), the food (!!!) all make this a very special place. Close enough to Glacier Bay National Park's lodge that you can... More

I just returned from my 5th 6 day trip to Gustavus Inn at Glacier Bay over the past 20 years. I keep asking myself why I don't go every year. The lodging and food are Great and the best you will find at any B&B. Spend a few days and experience one of the most beautiful areas in Alaska and... More

This is one of the most magical places on earth! No pretense, just a lovely existence which attracts wonderful people. The Gustavus Inn is a beautiful place, with beautiful flowers and gardens, exquisite food and most of all, wonderful people who are giving of their culture from the heart. Mimi, Thanks for your kind words. I hope this will help new visitors come "home" to Alaska next year. This was a great year for the garden, fishing, staff and wonderful guests. Everyone can look forward to next year when Glacier Bay National Park dedicates the new Longhouse on the Tlingit Trail in Bartlett Cove. More

The five stars are completely deserved. We came for one night and wished we had stayed for one week (at least). There is a tranquility here that seems to make time stand still...and yet it passed all too fast! The inn itself is utterly charming, with nooks and crannies to tuck yourself away in. Gorgeous, peaceful countryside, stunning kitchen garden... More

The Gustavus Inn was a place that I would have wanted to stay for more than only two nights. The people there were just absolutely wonderful, and waited patiently for you to rise out of your comfortable bed, made your breakfast as soon as you ordered it. The cook was just as nice as everyone there. They also seat you... More

This is a lovely inn in a gorgeous setting. The food is amazing with local seafood and veges from their own beautiful garden. Most impressive is the staff and ownership. Everyone is kind and helpful. We were unable to fly to Wrangell for the next leg of our trip and luckily they found room for us and Joann worked tirelessly... More

Fresh air, quiet surroundings, delicious food served family style, conversation with people you just met who soon seem like old friends, and, oh yes, again the food. Much of it prepared on premises from local, seasonal products: halibut, salmon, sheefish, and crab from the sea, vegetables and flowers from the garden. Friendly, welcoming, competent proprietors, and staff, and so relaxing.... More

Dave and JoAnn are amazing innkeepers - they have it down to a science. Prior to our trip, Dave emailed and inquired about our interests and booked all of our excursions (whale watching with TAZ and the Glacier Bay cruise). They organize all of the transfers and have a large supply of bikes on the property in case you want... More

Staying at the Gustavus in was just like a honeymoon each time we have stayed there. I think the highlight of the Gustavus send it to people you get to have meals with and the conversations that are encouraged. Not only is the food amazing, I love the rhubarb sauce. The gardens are amazing and David was ever so kind... More
