We are big fans of this place, having visited before and having recommended it highly to friends (who also enjoyed their stay). But our latest stay slightly disappointed. Unfortunately the chef was unable to cook (these things happen, of course), so we ate elsewhere in the area. This meant that part of the charm of the Great Bear was lost:... More

Although a very nice place - and in a cracking location we found it a bit strange to be told we had to be in bed at 10 PM - after travelling all day and after eating dinner we were using the facilities (pool table) and then told at 10PM to make it our last game.

Although British and Americans speak the same language, there must be a huge communication breakdown here. We would never tell a guest to "go to bed". We simply reminded this person that the Billiards Room Hours end at 10:00 as we have guests on either side of this room. Susan Sullivan Owner The Great Bear Inn More

My husband and I stayed here the first week of August. We tried to get a place inside the GNP but all the hotels were booked. After doing research on Trip Advisor, I came across The Great Bear Inn and we decided to give it a try. Very happy that we did. We stayed in the Chief Mountain Room on... More

We stayed at The Great Bear Inn for 4 nights, I wished it was longer! Undoubtedly the most comfortable place we have ever stayed and the best night's sleep. The Spirit Bear room was not a room, but a beautiful large suite with a private walkout patio and stone fireplace..we loved it! Sue was a great hostess and the dogs... More

The Great Bear Inn is an exceptional Inn, so close to the gate of Glacier Park, yet near restaurants and other places to explore in Montana. The decor is wonderful, the rooms are spacious and the beds so comfortable. We were even surprised with an electric storm with lightning and thunder! The owner and hostess, Susan, is a joy. She... A great place to stay close to the park. Susan the hostess was a gem and made us feel so welcome. Rooms were super comfy and the deck in the evenings was a great place to sit with a wine. This place was like a home away from home!

We stayed for two nights at the Great Bear Inn and we really LOVED it there. The rooms, the whole house, the ground around the building - everything is absolutely beautiful and cared for with lots of love. The owner, Susan, is a lovely and caring person and easy to talk to, who made us feel very welcome right from... More

This is a wonderful piece of paradise in rural Montana just 3 miles from the entrance to Glacier National Park, and the start of the Going to the Sun Rd. Susan makes you feel completely at home, the dogs who look after the property are wonderful. After days hiking around the park, it is so restful coming back here to... More

My wife and I stayed a week at The Great Bear Inn for our honeymoon. The owner set a family-like atmosphere with meaningful conversations. The inn combines quiet and cozy living with a nightly dinner in three courses. With access to the outstanding Glacier National Park via a 5-minute drive, the inn offers seclusion and convenience. The sweet dogs Jackson,... More
