So I am old enough now that rustic does not appeal as well as it did even 10 years ago. I am going to review this from the time when rustic was ok. The hotel rooms were quiet, very close to the scenic areas of west glacier. And the Park is beautiful. The downside for me today is the lack... More

Pros: This lodge is located right in the park on scenic Lake McDonald. The beds were decent. There were electrical plugs, so we were able to charge our electronics despite there being no television. The lodge turned 100 this year, and still has a lot of charm. Hotel staff was very nice. Cons: The bathroom was awful. The shower was... More

I have visited 21 national parks (I'm working on visiting all of them) and i have stayed in park lodges all the parks that had them. This lodge is very nice. We stayed in the cabins (officially "Large Cabin Room 2 Dbl"). There aren't that many cabins and they are all very close to the main lodge building all facing... More

Lake McDonald Lodge is one of the old gems that make a vacation in Glacier National Park a little more memorable. It is the smallest of the park hotels, but has the most charm. The front of the hotel faces the lake, so don't let the simple entry put you off. Once inside the cozy lobby, you'll be transported back... More

On this 7 night trip we stayed here, Prince of Wales in Waterton Lakes NP and at Many Glacier Lodge. Many Glacier experience was superior in every way. LMcD Lodge is an excellent base for everything west side up to Logan Pass. Park shuttle bus is convenient - a must to any location on Going to the Sun Road where... More

Thank you so much for staying with us at Lake McDonald Lodge! We're glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your feedback. Although cell service and Wi-Fi have come a long way in recent years, the remote locations of our lodges still makes for very limited service. The Lodge is celebrating it's 100th anniversary this year and, although... More

Expensive for the standard of room but then again you are in a national park and the choice is very limited. The staff are very friendly but the quality of the food served in the restaurants is well below average - especially in the evening in the so-called 'fine dining' main restaurant. Rooms are basic and a little tired but... More

Don’t expect to stay in large comfortable rooms at the Lake McDonald Lodge but the overall acomodations are nice. This is a National Park Lodge originally built over a century ago and has been upgraded throughout the years. The main dinning room (Russell's Fireside Dining Room) is very nice and the food was excellent. There are guest rooms inside the... More

Of the three historic GNP lodges, this is the best. For starters the bathrooms have been upgraded since the 40s...but not real recently .... and the screens are maintained so that you can open the windows. However, you need to be warned there is no elevator. This lodge is smaller than the other two GNP lodges and has a cozy,... More

We stayed at this lodge during our Backroads Bike Tour of Glacier National Park. We had a quaint room with the basics. The views are very pretty and the flowers were just gorgeous. We stayed in a log cabin chalet type building on the lake front.

I visited this beautiful, rustic, historical lodge on the Red Bus tour and went back for dinner. Did not stay at the Lodge, but want to comment on the incredible feel of this place. Sat in a hickory chair on the patio with a view of the lake, enjoyed watching people on the old wooden boat, and purchased some treasures... More
