The Palace Hotel, built in the 1880's, is in the center of Silver City's historic area. I booked a single room for 2 nights. The room was quite small, no frills at all -- but it was clean, charmingly decorated, and as a continental breakfast is included, a good value. Do be aware -- if you are looking for all... more

The Palace is the most centrally located hotel in Silver City; it is located immediately above the Javalina Coffee House, across the street from Isaac's and a short walk to the rest of historic downtown including Diane's and Shevek and Co. This is a historic hotel and should be approached with that understanding. Some 20th century amenities such as air-conditoning,... more

This is a 19th century hotel that needs serious upgrading to bring it up to 21st century standards. The decor is shabby, the plumbing is a bit hit and miss, to say the least, the staffing is minimal but we found friendly - in fact, a bit like Silver City itself. BUT having said that, it was very central, had... more

Found this old, historical, quaint hotel to be enjoyable. The management was nice and the staff were very nice. No air conditioning, which in October is not a problem, the bed was great, very comfortable, but the bathroom was the only downside to the room. The bathroom was too small. I'm not a large woman, but it was still hard... more

We walked in to the hotel to be met by one very unpleasant woman on reception. When we asked to view the room she slammed the keys on the desk and would not allow us to view the room alone - company policy. When it was obvious we were not happy she stated that there was a 24 hour cancellation... more

I really liked this hotel. We were on a motorcycle trip and wanted to stay downtown. We'd been traveling for 11 hours so we were hot, tired and hungry. My only complaint? No air conditioning (in New Mexico??) but really, it wasn't bad at night with a fan. The rooms were clean, a little funky but clean and the bed... more

We had such a bad experience with a rude manager that we checked out early and upgraded to the motel 6 - much better and cheaper! Be warned if things go wrong the attitude and help you get leaves everything to be desired. We checked in for 2 nights and were given a queen room, we upgraded to a king... more

Real character place, not luxurious but great fun and very reasonably priced. A real bit of mining history. We ate at Diane's (contrary to earlier comments it was just about the only place open!) About 10 minutes walk, left out of hotel and left at junction, then on opposite side of road. Good food at reasonable prices. Parking at the... more

Our room at the Palace Hotel was anything except 21st century convenience. The toilet and bathtub finishes were peeling and there was a bathroom sink in the bedroom and another bathroom sink in the living room! There was a hole in the ceiling of the bathroom with a flue cover that had holes in it, during the day you could... more
