This was our first trip to New York City and to Akwaaba, but it certainly will not be our last. Monique and Glenn (and Erica) were wonderful hosts and made our stay unforgettable. The mansion is beautiful - full of elegance and quiet grace- in a great neighborhood of brownstones. Our room - Ashanti - was spacious and well appointed.... more

Our second trip to Akwaaba and we were greeted like old friends. Nothing was too much trouble and we remembered just what a special place Akwaaba is. Fabulous local restaurants and wine bars only a few minutes walk away. more

From the moment I first contacted the Akwaaba explaining my needs, the staff was efficient, courteous, and responsive. I needed at least three of the four rooms for three days and two additional beds in two of the rooms. We were arriving at different times from different parts of the country to attend the wedding of our youngest son. Then... more

Around the breakfast table, my relatives and I shared some uplifting stories. The food was so delicious, we asked for seconds every morning. The service was impeccable. The jacuzzi was marvelous, spacious, and curvaceous, and unlike any other we had ever seen. It was far more relaxing and more comfortable than any poolside jacuzzi we've ever been in. People of... more

We had an awesome week in New York, thanks to the City, the weather, the wonderful people and sites we saw ... the happenings, the streets, the stores, the music ... But that could not have been the same without Akwaaba. We have been remembering today how great the Monique and Glenn's hospitality was, how nice and warm our room... more

Upon a very tired , late arrival we were greeted by Glen who helped us park right in front of the property by giving us his space and moving his car further up the street. He did this again, just before we left . Monique gave a quick tour to show us the coffee maker, fridge, microwave, TV room, fax, computer... more

My wife and I stayed here for her birthday in July. The mansion itself is simply stunning! Amazing period Victorian architectural details, carved wooden inlays, 13+' ceilings, plaster moldings - they didn't even make them like this when this house was built. The staff was attentive and helpful. We were coming in late and the staff made us a snack... more

I recently stayed at the Akwaaba Mansion for 4 nights; my daugher is moving from California to NY and this bed and breakfast is very close to her new apartment. The building itself is beautiful with many interesting photos, pieces of art, and memoribilia throughout. The owners were on the premises and were friendly and helpful; and each morning we... more
