While the value of the place was good, there were several bizarre inconveniences that would seem commonsense for the owners to address but they did not. My friend got in the night before I did and found the kitchen sink equipped with an old, grubby sponge and nothing more-- no soap at all. She actually ended up BUYING new sponges... More

I found The Alma Victoria House on Airbnb and wanted to book since the rooms looked very nice to me. Prior to booking, I contacted them with some questions regarding check-in and out. They only pre-approved my booking but didn't reply my message at all. Still, I was very tempted to book it due to its reasonable price, huge space... More

We booked one of the rooms at Alma Victoria House on their website. Three months previous to our stay, I emailed Heather stating that unfortunately I would have to cancel as my partner had gotten a new job. Literally hours later, I emailed her back stating my girlfriend was going to take his spot and that we would still make... More

We booked the loft apartment at Alma Victoria House on their website and unfortunately had to cancel our stay. With over a two month notice, we were in time to get a 100 % refund (cancelation policy of Alma Victoria House, as stated on their website). We used several types of contact opportunities (mail, telephone + additional: social media and... More

We stayed for a couple of nights last week and we really enjoyed the accommodations, the location and the price for this property. Heather runs this rental very professionally and is very helpful and friendly. We will be staying there again when we return in July.

The mini apartment was very stylish. The bed was comfortable. There wasn't a TV, but we didn't miss it one bit. We did have to share a bathroom, but it was never a problem. It is located close to two subway stations for a quick trip to Manhattan. There were good restaurants and bars within walking distance too. Heather was... More

I enjoyed staying here and would come back, but I have to advise: don’t expect too much and you won’t be disappointed. Depending on where you’re from and how well you know New York, you might find the neighbourhood a bit grotty. I’ll admit to feeling some trepidation arriving here after dark, and the rat scurrying out of my way... More

Sometimes, inexperienced travelers on their first trip to NYC expect that for about $100 a night that they are staying in a uptown Manhattan fancy hotel, (where the rates are hidden in the basement of the building and the bedbugs live in the beds and carpets) and seem to not know anything about other areas outside of those extraordinarily expensive... We arrived at this place late. Being first time visiting the States and first time having to drive and the right all the way from Newark on a rainy night it's a challenged and we didn't failed to locate this guesthouse. We just parked our car outside by the roadside away from the hydrant. For the past 3 nights of... More

Thank you. Unfortunately, we do not often meet our guests, as many leave early to site see and return late at night. These are self catered studios and suites, but we live in our home, on the ground floor if guests need to contact us for any reason, we are always around. We also provide a free hallway phone to... We stayed several nights in suite 2 at casa victoria. The room was clean and nicely decorated, with new furniture. The bed was huge and super comfortable. We loved the teas provided in the common area. The bathroom was bare bones (some hooks for hanging towels would be helpful) but clean. The train stop was just around the corner, which... More

This review is actually NOT for The Alma Victoria Guesthouse at all. However, we provide electric heaters for guests in each room, as heating is automatic, and it is a old house. Some complain it is too hot and some say its too cold. Unfortunately in NYC most old houses are old radiators that have no exact heat control, and... More

I went to NYC in a rush trip for solve some business affairs and luckily I found this lovely spot in Brooklyn. Very good experience. Excellent location, the subway is really close, so you can get into Manhattan in a heartbeat. Staff was efficient, helpful, and polite. The room had everything I needed, VERY clean, nicely decorated and with a... More
