My adult daughter and I stayed for two nights over the 2015 Memorial Day Weekend in the Purple Haze room on the third floor. The B&B is about a 5 minute walk from the subway station. The street is well kept and neat. Being a holiday weekend, residents were out late, so putting on the AC solved the noise issue... More

We stayed for six nights in this lovely b&b. The hostess is a cool woman making our visit more familiar. Sankofan Aban is located on a street where people live rather than hang out so after a day/night on Manhattan it's nice to "come home". Nice café (crepes) and smoothie bar (veggie) a few minutes away. Fridays and Saturdays there's... More

Where to start…. If you’re used to a US major city subway and don’t mind travelling into Manhattan every day (about 35 munites to Midtown), combined with never seeing you’re host, having no Wi-Fi, no breakfast or facilities to make a tea/coffee then Sankofa Aban B&B will be fine for you… To be fair not seeing the host is no... Hostess bashing not allowed. Mistake after mistake hopefully none of which were mine. Please make sure that when a message is send concerning a reservation send it to an email address not facebook Note, check in 3-6pm. When later flights are booked it is necessary to check with the Inn Keeper before booking the room. This was not done. I... More

What a wonderful and magnificent treat in Brooklyn, jazz like it should be. Like the old times and the acoustics in the parlor of this Brownstown beautiful. On top of all of that the host makes some great fried fish and coleslaw. Deb is a great jazz and bedstuy historian and a wonderful host. In other words I had a... More

If you are seeking an alternative to the overpriced, tiny hotels rooms in Manhattan, I would definitely recommend staying at the Sankofa Aban B and B in Brooklyn. There were a number of things that made my stay here special. The room - It was big (especially by New York City standards). It had a large closet, wonderful old wood... More

Sankofa Aban is a great 4 level Brownstone in Brooklyn with a fabulous host, Debbie. She truly makes it a home away from home. Great relaxed atmosphere with home cooked breakfasts. If you have a chance to attend the jazz night in her parlour where she serves a "fish fry" it is worthwhile. Easy access to a major metro stop... More

Beautiful building, gracious hostess. Well-located, in a neighborhood that, to me (a white male from a Southern state), seemed pretty exotic. Easy walk to subway; some lines just a couple blocks away, and many others just a few more. I returned to the B&B just in time for the final 30 minutes of the Saturday jazz concert. A lot of... Michael thank you again, it totally helps me to find out where I can help my guest better enjoy their stay at Sankofa Aban, within my power. It is in my power to make sure that my guest understand the remote control lighting associated with the ceiling fans, in the rooms. Whenever I neglect to walk my guest to their... More

Sankofa Aban is beautiful 4 level old Brooklyn brownstone that is fabulous in itself, but Deb the owner makes it unique. She makes you feel like family - really cared for.but there's more.the parlor becomes an intimate jazz venue on fri & sat nights. Usually about 30 people. As a guest you can join in or not as your schedule... More

When arriving @ Sankofa Aban, Debby welcomed us with a warm hug and a smile I will never forget. We had some good laughs in the week we stayed here. Brooklyn: something different I liked to stay in Brooklyn, away from the rush from Manhattan but still close enough to visit all the Manhattan sights. Brooklyn is something else. Debby... More
