Your room may look like a bordello but that's the whole idea in this funky B&B. Each room is inside a real train car sitting on tracks with furnishings from the Gold Rush era. A hot breakfast is served in a separate car. Be sure to ask about the polar bear!

This place was great, you get your own rail car, and each of us then had our own tiny sleeping room. Had a great sleep and then had wonderful breakfast. Owner is a piece of work, she yells out "who wants coffee" from behind the stove of the kitchen on dining car. This isn't Four Seasons, it is like visiting... More

This is definitely one of those places that you have to say you stayed in! We stayed in the Can Can room- which was decorated in a very 'over-the-top' way! Such a neat place, and beautiful view! The hosts were great and very friendly. The only con is that there was no wi-fi.

What a cute idea!!! Well worth the stay!!! The décor Suzie comes up with is absolutely outstanding!!! so fun, naughty, not politically correct :) The last place you expect a train to be is in the middle of the mountain... btw Suzie is your true Alaskan hostess- best described as Aunt Suzie!

If you like things a little quirky you'll love this bed and breakfast. We stayed in the Caboose and thoroughly enjoyed it. Breakfast was delicious and our hosts were friendly and full of energy. When you're there look at the photos of how Mike managed to move the train, piece by piece, across the State to their hillside property. Also,... More

We stayed for one night in the Aurora Express Caboose. It was a very unique place to stay. Very comfortable bed, tight potty room but adequate, still had the smell of a train (not a bad smell), very quiet location a few miles out of town and great views overlooking the river and Fairbanks. The chairs up in the observation... More

The Aurora Express is a truly unique experience in Fairbanks, Alaska. Located slightly out of town, this bed and breakfast is made up of seven train cars, located on a piece of track. Sue, the owner, had a dream where her grandmother told her to buy the train cars, once Sue followed her Grandmother's other-worldly suggestion, she decided to make... More

My husband and I spent the night in a caboose! Mike and Sue Wilson have converted an entire train to the most amazing B&B. On a high mountain overlooking Fairbanks with an amazing view, this B&B is like no other. They transported train cars to their 16 acres and have transformed each car to unique rooms to spend the night.... More

We came back to the Aurora Express B&B this June-July (2013) after having first stayed there in 2008. It was better this time than the first time. Since your "lodging" is a train car (or portion thereof), TripAdvisor apparently wants to call this a "specialty" lodging. That classification may cause people to miss out on this unique opportunity but it... More

What a hoot!! A great way to start our Alaskan vacation! When we found this quirky B&B in a book, we just knew it was so "us". we made our reservations early so we could stay in the coveted caboose--The Golden Nelly"! The experience was more that we thought.... quirky, fun, good food, and most of all, wonderful hosts, Susan... More
