Detailed Reviews
When I first arrived, I was a bit put off by the shabbiness of the place, but I soon grew very comfortable. My bunk bed was comfy and the room was very quiet. The backyard is huge and has plenty of chairs to relax and recline. Though a small hostel, I met several interesting people. Cho, the owner, is extremely friendly and arrives immediately once you get there and call. It's a short, 10-minute walk to downtown (not that there's much to see downtown 😊). I definitely recommend this place!

A great location in Fairbanks. Cho is very helpful, both in person and via email and phone.
Came with a couple of friends for 4 nights, it was out first time in Alaska. Cho provided us with details on tours we could take, where we could eat etc. etc.
Would recommend anyone looking to save up some money and stay in a backpacker's hostel.
And yeah, he has a nice little igloo in the hostel in the snowy seasons!

After backpacking and camping in AK for too long without a shower, I called and booked same day. Stayed 4 nights and the price for summer in Alaska is absolutely unbeatable! Laundry on site, comfy beds. It's a hostel so there's activity happening all the time.
I had a car so transport wasn't an issue, however there are bus lines around Fairbanks and the information is displayed at the hostel. Wifi was plenty fast for emails, pic uploads, and facebook. Location is about a 20 minute walk from downtown and the public library is right down the street.
Cho, the owner and host, is fantastic. Super nice guy with some great local knowledge. Looking forward to staying here again!

If you like a clean place do not stay here. The bathrooms and kitchen were not cleaned the entire time we were there which was 3 nights. However, it's in a wonderful location, the house is super cute and the host Cho is really great. People are disgusting and no one cleaned after themselves. IMO, then its the host's job to keep the place clean. There were hairs and gross stuff in the bathroom and crumbs and food all over the kitchen. It seemed like nothing (toilet, shower, stove, tea towels, bathroom mats) had not been washed or cleaned in a really long time. Otherwise the place was pretty good. The beds were okay and there were plenty of blankets available to use if you got cold.

This hostel only ranks as average because it is not well managed and a bit crowded. But it has the features one wants and is centrally located on a major bus route. It also tends to gather an interesting crowd with an international flair.

I really enjoyed my stay at the 9th Ave Hostel when I stayed there last week (1/18-1/21/2015). The host was very helpful and friendly and knowledgeable regarding local entertainment and where to go to view the Northern Lights. The hostel is well stocked with cooking utensils, a tv, and a common use computer. Towels are provided. The max occupancy is 10 beds and there are 2 restrooms with showers. I'd stay here again if I have a chance to visit Fairbanks in the future and would recommend it to others.

A Nice hostel for a good price. The owner Cho is very nice in introducing the hostel and giving answers for your questions to travel around Fairbanks. In my opinion the most important thing a hostel must have is clean and tidy bathroom. This hostel has a good one. Nice beds and you get to meet lot of new people. I met people from Australia,Korea and from United States as well. People are friendly!

This was my first time ever staying at a hostel, and it was definitely more of a home than a hostel. From the moment I arrived, Cho (the owner) welcomed me and gave me a tour of the place and showed me my room! The accommodations are great and are in a central location (ie near downtown, shopping areas, bus lines). There is a nice living room with couches and a big screen TV, and on any given night, there were usually guests hanging out and watching movies or TV shows. The kitchen is great, and I was able to keep my food in the refrigerator without anyone taking it. The bedroom I slept in was an all-female room with 2 bunk beds and a bathroom. Although I would sometimes get woken up at odd hours due to guests arriving or guests coming back from aurora viewings, I was able to sleep well for the most part. There is also a porch and and area for BBQing and having a bonfire, which we did one night! All of the people staying in the hostel were AWESOME and we would all hang out together in the evenings. I felt like they became my family while I was there! Cho is also an amazing host, and he drove another guest and me to Chena Hot Springs! When I come back to Fairbanks, I will definitely be staying here! I miss it already!

I was in Fairbanks on a short business trip and by a friends recommendation I ended up in this hostel. From the minute I got there I felt at home. The hostel is well kept, clean, and the boss (Cho the man) is awesome. He truly made the stay welcoming and enjoying. All in all I highly enjoyed my stay, I met a lot of people. If you are in Fairbanks, this is the place to stay.

I have specifically gone here to write the review because of the great experience here.
I have been to several hostels in the past. This was by far the most impressive. They place is squeaky clean. There's a big screen TV to watch and a Big computer to use. WiFi. Telescope to see the stars, barbque kitchen etc etc. I even borrowed a bike in the morning to ride around the city. The location is right off the Airport way close to the Bus center and few blocks from downtown. The host is incredibly helpful and helps with the accomodation.
