We stayed for three nights. The room was larger, better maintained, and cleaner than several other Alaska hotels we've stayed in. Spacious room. Clean. Wireless computer easy to log on to. Microwave. Two televisions, old style versus flat screen but worked fine and had two HBO channels so better than many other places in Alaska on that score. Provided reliable... more
First the Pros: 1. Great location for downtown activities 2. Rooms clean & spacious 3. Hot breakfast bar was plentiful & varied – fruits, waffles, bagles & breads, egg & sausage patties, etc 4. Lavelle’s Bistro was excellent. Very friendly, customer-oriented staff and awesome wine selection. Now the Cons: 1. My room was on 3rd floor and could still hear... more
I frequently stay in Marriott properties. In fact, I've stayed over 130 days this year alone and with all of that experience, I have to say I'm very disappointed with the customer service of the front desk staff at this hotel. There is NO effort to go above and beyond. Some seem to even want to fight with you! I... more
The room here was large, bright, clean, and well-kept. I appreciated the tiny refrigerator and microwave, the disposable plates and utensils, and the one free bottle of water provided each day (I usually don't drink bottled water, but Fairbanks tap water doesn't taste great). My room--on the 6th floor at the front of the building--had a beautiful view of the... more
To all of you non-Alaskans that will visit Fairbanks or just about anywhere in Alaska, you need to be warned in advance that when you visit Alaska, YOU CAN'T EXPECT MUCH FOR LUXURY OR COMFORT (unless you are in Anchorage)! With that being said, some places are much better than others and this one is the best....but you're going to... more
This is one of the newest hotels in the area. The hotel is very difficult to get last minute reservations, even in the winter low season. I believe that the prime reason for its popularity is based on the level of service, quality of amenities, and proximity to everything that you need in the area. For the property itself, I... more
I have stayed at a different hotel in Fairbanks on my last ten visits, and this time I decided to splurge and stay downtown at the Springhill Suites for $97. Was I ever delighted to find such a fabulous accommodation in Fairbanks. Everything was clean and neat, with nice employees, and free wireless internet. The rooms are all suites with... more
This is my first experience with the Marriott’s Springhill Suites brand, although I often stay at other flavors of Marriott, since I especially like their total non-smoking policy. This one had the added benefit of being very close to where I needed to go. This was a very pleasant stay. The check-in staff was friendly and went out of their... more
While the building won't win any architectural design awards, the layout of the guest rooms is among the best we have encountered. The "suites" aren't much larger than a comfortably sized standard hotel room, but the rooms make excellent use of available space. Several mirrors, one full length, add an appearance of spaciousness. There is a sofa and recliner chair... more
