We stayed her in the summer of 2014. The location and the building were not bad, the breakfast was great. However be careful if you want some daylight and fresh air in your room - ours was in the basement and felt extremely closed in - one mini-window that could not open and it was not possible to get any... Greetings and thank you for your post - we always appreciate an opportunity to grow and at times, unfortunately it comes through your disappointment and for that I apologize. I am the new manager and have been on board since September 2015 and concerned that this situation was not brought to my immediate attention. I am onsite and available to... More

We spent a very comfortable and relaxing weekend in Fredericksburg, staying at the Richard Johnston Inn. It was our second stay at the inn, and this time due to our kennel's schedule we had to bring our dog. (Our first was in the 1890 Caroline House - how elegant!,) The Inn could not have been more accommodating, housing us in... More

Our foundation had a January meeting in Fredericksburg. Many places for lodging close in the winter months, but than goodness the Richard Johnson Inn chooses to remain open. Four of us stayed at the Inn. The staff was excellent and very helpful. We felt like honored guests in a beautiful home.

We had a great experience at the Richard Johnston Inn for a quick weekend get away. The Inn is comfortable and homey. We stayed in the "Loft" room which has a great sitting room and all the comforts of home. The staff is exceptional and take great care of the guests. Breakfast was delicious! We're already planning our return.

The entire staff takes great pride in what we offer here and it's heartwarming when you feel like all the "comforts of home" are a part of it. The Richard Johnson Inn has been our favorite B&B for years. The location in Old Town Fredericksburg, couldn’t be better. The beautiful courtyard in the back is private yet spacious and open, and all the rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed with upscale country charm. The home is rich with colonial style architecture, woodwork and furnishings. The breakfast meals were... More

Smokey and Linda, It was such a pleasure to have you choose to celebrate your wedding anniversary with us and even more so enjoyable since you both made me feel "at home." It is always a treat when I have an opportunity to sit and visit - breakfast each morning is a privilege not often offered with our busy mornings... More

This was our last night in America, booked in mid-afternoon. As you enter from Caroline Street it felt homely & friendly. We were staying in ‘The Virginian’ room overlooking Caroline Street. Good sized room, queen sized bed, armchairs and en-suite c/w complimentary toiletries. Interesting room decoration with historic pictures on the walls and symbols of the American flag incorporated within... More

We used the RJ Inn as a meeting place for a reunion between my dad and his old college buddy. The rooms fit the bill perfectly as we booked the original kitchen room for the 3 of us in our family and the suite for my dad’s friend and wife. All five of us were able to gather comfortably in... More

No doubt we will return to this wonderful place in the heart of the historic district. The house is meticulously decorated with amazing touches like free wine & cheese in the late afternoon, bottled water in the community fridge and your room, whiskey in the room (for a nightcap) and robes in the rooms. The personable staff is attentive and... More

I had the luck to book my room for the ghost tour, when the town had rescheduled their Oktoberfest. This hotel is downtown, smack in the middle, and I was concerned I would be hearing the oompa pa pa all night. I didn't hear a thing! Complimentary chocolates and brandy in the room, 6 of the fluffiest pillows I've every... More

We stayed at the Richard Johnston Inn this September for our 4th visit in 5 years. This is one of our favorite Inns. The service is friendly and helpful, the breakfasts are delicious and the rooms are lovingly furnished. It's also ideally located in historic Fredericksburg. Runners take note: it's an easy mile or so to the Canal Path which... More
