We arrived at the1890 Caroline House on a wet Friday. After we alerted the staff at the sister property the Richard Johnston Inn of our arrival, we were taken in to the absolutely beautifully restored 1890 era house. We stayed in the Luke Henry room which could not have been any cleaner, prettier and decorated better. We sneaked a peak... More

We stayed in the black and white suite upstairs. It was such a luxurious, sexy room- I couldn't believe it. Even my husband thought it was gorgeous. We had the place to ourselves, we had a late check in. The hostess left out a bottle of wine, cookies, chilled bottles of water for us. We had a quick dinner down... More

We will definitely be back! Beautifully decorated and warm and friendly. We brought wine and cheese and enjoyed them on the back patio in the garden. You can walk to shops, restaurants, and basically all over town from here. We stayed in Sawyer Scott room. Breakfast was generous and delicious! We had gourmet omelettes, fruit, scones, and an assortment of... More

We stayed in the black and white bedroom upstairs with a beautiful bay window. It took my breath away!!!! We were married at the end of May in Fredericksburg. The Bride's base was the 1890 Caroline House, where she had the place to herself Thursday night (staying in The Sawyer Scott room), and with close friends staying in the other two rooms on Friday and Saturday night. Several members of her family stayed at The Richard Johnston Inn just... More

Nice place but could not stay there because they were not there and did not answer their phone or return calls. Same problem for their other property. Seems with two Inns they could have someone who could answer the phone.

We were looking for a B&B somewhere in Virginia. The criteria for the area was that it had to have wineries nearby to tour and something historic to see. Fredericksburg fit both of these. The area is very historic and there are three nearby battlefields to tour. We originally booked at the Richard Johnston Inn, which is the sister resort... More

I made a mistake and accidently booked a room in their sister inn (The Richard Johnston - very nice but when one has seen Paree...). I was disappointed to learn that the first floor suite in my preferred location (the 1890 Caroline House) would not be available, but when the staff saw my face they quickly came up with a... More

My (new) husband and I relocated to Fredericksburg, VA immediately after becoming engaged; we had planned to get married civilly in our new hometown of Fredericksburg;after getting together the official paperwork and minister, the final piece was location. After internet searching, I came upon the 1890 Caroline House for a night's stay ; the accommodations were quite impressive, after meeting... More
