I just booked a room here after reading the first few reviews. They sounded pretty good. I was looking for a reasonably priced room for one night as my daughter and I transit through Boston. If you go straight to the booking page there is no written policy regarding the deposit policy. After I foolishly entered my credit card information... more

From the moment I entered the building and received assistance from the person at the front desk until the time I left a week later I felt at ease and at home. The staff was informative friendly and eager to help. Traveling alone as a woman and walking to Boston College I felt safe. The neighborhood was clean and had... more

My daughter and I booked a room here, on a friend's recommendation, during a recent trip to Boston to look at colleges--Boston University specifically. We had a late evening arrival and the inn had left our room key and instructions taped to the front door of the inn. When I made our reservation, the clerk had told me that we... more

The Beacon Inn 2 did not provide heat on a cold night. They did not even make the bed with a blanket. After searching through the drawers, we found one thin cotton blanket. They did not provide facial tissues. There was no staff on duty after 9PM to correct any problems. If you like to eat a continental breakfast standing... more

This place was awful! Thank goodness it was only for one night! The garret room (the "plymouth") was on the 4th floor, up a tiny steep stairway with no elevator-a factor for me as I am asthmatic. The room actually had the emergency egress in it , so we had a large EXIT sign in the room (!) which remained... more

I hesitate to give the Beacon Inn a bad review because the proprietor Andy was very courteous and helpful. I was doing research at Boston University and the location was excellent. I also was surprised that when I booked a "standard double" I received a king-size bed. Probably the biggest drawbacks for me is that it was really worn and... more

I stayed here for one night at the 1087 location (Boston Harbor room) while traveling for business. It has a few pros: reasonably priced, located near public transporation, and helpful front desk staff (only available during limited hours). Unfortunately, it has far more drawbacks: very loud from the traffic, street, and train noise, strong cold draft from windows directly behind... more

First off, I'd like to admit that I've NEVER stayed at a B&B before this experience. I had a 4 day, 3 night workshop in Jamaica Plain, MA, and google-searched and found the Beacon Inn. I called them directly and asked for the least expensive room available for the dates I required. The website indicates that reservations are needed for... more

The Mayflower room in the Beacon 1750 was dirty with hair on the pillow and sheets, hair and used soap and a brush in the bathroom. The room had an emergency bar on the out side of the door and an emergency exit in the room apparently it was an emergency egress for the 2nd floor. disturbing. The king size... more

Located very near Boston proper right on the green line of the "T" - Boston's subway (which is excellent) eliminates the need for car rental. While the breakfast is minimalist (instant oatmeal, cereal, rubbery bagels, coffee, tea, o.j.) it offers free high speed internet access (ethernet cable) local calls, a/c (window unit), cable tv in a historic brownstone converted to... more
