Our room was not in the main building and it was excellent, which may be the way to go as we were told that some of the rooms are better than others. We were warmly received and through the course of the evning we were introduced to the 14 year old resident cat who graciously received us even though we... More

My husband and I have been going to Ft. Davis for over 20 years and I am sad and disappointed at how the wonderful old buildings and establishments have been changed and deteriated. The Limpia Hotel is in sad need of cleaning, painting and updating of furniture. The most disappointing thing is we arrived early on a Wednesday afternoon so... More

I was excited about staying in another historic hotel in USA, as I had had a very pleasant experience in one a few days earlier. Oh dear, what a disappointment. I was in the 2 bedroom suite opposite the reception desk. My initial impression was 'quaint' but this soon changed to 'mmmmmm, very interesting' and by the time I left,... More

This place is clean and adorable and the proprietress is genuine, warm, and knowledgeable. I didn't know what to expect of this tiny town 20 minutes out from the McDonald Observatory (also worth visiting). Sure, the floors creak a little, but the bed was comfortable and clean - I didn't wake up stuffy at all! The rooms have high ceilings... More

My husband, teenage daughter, 2 dogs, and I checked in at the Hotel Limpia on Sunday, December 28, 2014. We stayed in Suite 4, and had a lovely time. The furnishings are quaint and the 2-room suite was spacious. I had called ahead a few weeks in advance to make reservations with Steve. He was most patient in helping me... More

This is the second time we stayed at the Hotel Limpia. The rooms are clean and offer warm showers. The hotel is quiet and offers lots of time for relaxation. We stayed here so we had a place to stay after going to the star party at the observatory. The hotel is a short 20 min drive to the observatory... More

Enjoyed our stay at very characterful and comfortable hotel. Pleasant, spacious rooms with genuinely friendly and helpful staff. Very tasty food at adjoining bistro. Can't understand why this lovely hotel is rated so low on trip advisor. Nearby Fort Davis historic park provides fascinating insight into development of wild west. Great overnight stop on the way to Big Bend National... More

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2014

I stayed here for a night in November. The floor layout is a little unusual (my room was right next to the front desk), but the room was quiet and clean, with a high ceiling and vintage four-poster bed. Likewise, the hotel itself has some very cozy touches, such as the enclosed wraparound porch and the hotel cat. Staff was... More

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2014

Stayed 2 nights in November, there are two parts to the hotel historic and newer. The historic part is almost 100 years old and only minimum updates have been made and it keeps that historic charm. Our room had a high ceiling and part of it was done in the original tin. Very convenient and the Bistro next door has... More

While the staff was as nice/helpful/thoughtful as they could be, the hotel needs some SERIOUS updating!! Yes, it's a "historical" property but a good, thorough cleaning would help! Definitely not worth $149/night. The restaurant Bistro was terrific! Eat there!
