This is a must do when in Ft Davis. An old fashioned soda joint with great burgers (huge) and lots of kitchy nostalgia on the walls to keep you interested. Nice art gallery up stairs. But the real gem is the soda counter where you can get an old fashioned malted milk or shake, mixed up on an old Hamilton... More

We were told by a volunteer at Big Bend Ranch State Park that this was THE place to eat in Fort Davis. It was true! The chicken fried steak was fantastic, the baked potato was perfect, even the coffee was good, but the absolute best thing about this place is the dessert! Homemade pie, cookies, brownies, fudge, and an old-fashioned... More

The staff isn't that nice. As previously mentioned, there's no desk or service, or friendly staff. The person at the restaurant register just hands you your keys and you're on your own the rest of the stay. When we checked out the girl at the counter said she didn't know what to do and just had us lay our keys... More

We took a vacation during the summer, visiting areas around West Texas (Marfa, Big Bend) and decided to stay here because it seemed unique and would be a fun experience. Well, it was definitely unique and not too bad, but we will not stay again. The breakfast was good downstairs, but there are no coffee makers in the room and... More

Nice themed rooms and fascinating restaurant / diner downstairs . Make sure you arrive at 3pm. or later as there is very little else in town . Sadly on or visit it's torrential rain . So our trip to the local astronomical observatory looks iffy.

After a day at Balmorhea State Park, we were ready for something cold to eat. We dropped in for some ice cream. Expensive but refreshing ($13 for 2 almost medium size shake and a single dip cone). Cute building inside and out. Restrooms, while clean, had no TP in the stall I was in and no soap at the sink.... More

We are here right now. When I checked in, I was so disappointed. The bathroom is a nightmare of outdated, small fixtures. The small area surrounding the sink seems made of plywood. Some of the furniture is thrift store quality. This is not "cowboy charm.". The stairs and floors are rickety. No offer of help to carry luggage. Not really... More

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at Fort Davis and always wanted to eat at the Drug Store but all the parking spots were taken whenever we drove past. On our next to last day we finally found a place to park and soon became aware of why the place is so popular. It was like taking a step... More

The food was wonderful and the waitresses were great. We wish we could have stayed in the hotel itself but we did find a room down the street. Ft Davis has so very much to offer. You could probably spend several days there taking in all the sights.

If you are looking for luxury and pampering probably not for you but I loved the old time experience and decor! It was very convenient for visits to surrounding towns and the best Food in all the surrounding towns!! I would definitely book a room there again!
