This is our second visit in recent years. First stay lived up to our expectations so we came back for a two day return to room 123 at the top end of the original building. Bathroom had been remodeled with high end fixtures. This suite of two connecting rooms was perfectly clean, as before. The rooms on this level are... More

The original buildings for Indian Lodge in the Davis Mountains State Park were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. I have stayed here 3-4 times over the last 55 years and they have been well maintained and there is some newer construction. I think the Lodge was completely overhauled about 10 years ago. Our room was large,... More

If you are planning to get out and about the mountains and to the observatory, this is a good central location. Not so good if you want instant access to anything! Wifi and cell service in the room was non-existent, there was wifi near the office/restaurant but still no cell service. Town is a few miles away. The rooms were... More

We originally intended to stay two nights but enjoyed it so much we extended to three. Great place for a couple or a group. The Lodge is very clean and quiet (except for the guy below us with sawmill-like snoring) with great views. The biggest negative was that we had one of the highest rooms and it's a LONG way... More

If you're looking for quiet with amazing views in the Davis Mountains in Texas this is a great place. There's lots of rugged hiking in the park itself, the McDonald Observatory is close by, as is the old Fort Davis itself. However, be aware that this is an old structure. We had the Executive Suite - which should be the... More

The ladies at the reception are very nice and sweet. The room is really clean and I love the wood chairs and desks. No cell phone signal. No internet. But they dohave TV and phone. At night the stars look so close and so bright. Try avoid having lunch in the restaurant because it can take forever. But breakfast buffet... More

We stayed at Indian Lodge for 2 nights while visiting the area. It's a beautiful lodge and it's a real deal! Very reasonable prices and a beautiful location. There is a very nice family room with wifi, fruit, and games. The restaurant serves excellent food. The rooms are extra large. Super value! Trails are not well marked, but still good... More

We reserved a "Handicapped" room at this State-run hotel expecting that at least they would comply with minimal ADA standards. Instead we found a bed that was impossible to get into and out of, due to a 10-inch gap between the mattress and the side board (SEE PHOTO), and two primitive wooden chairs that easily tip over. I was injured... More
