This is a fantastic place to stay if you want to see the stars at night. Just walk outside or drive up the road to the McDonald Observatory for a Star Party on Tuesdays, Fridays or Saturdays evenings. The rooms are clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. I would have given them an excellent rating except for the restaurant where the... More

Indian Lodge was a real surprise. It was located with a view of the Davis Mountains in a very nice park with camping, hiking and driving tours close to McDonald Observatory. The hotel was pristine. It was built by the CCC in 1930 and maintained very well. The pool, restaurant and grounds were most excellent. The park personnel as well... More

This modern, comfortable lodge was the type of facility you would expect in a major city, not in a state park. Wood paneling, flat screen TV, spacious, spectacular view, comfortable large beds, and clean space made my stay here very enjoyable. I would define it as a luxurious place to stay in the mountains.

Stayed one night in room 122 in the original CCC built part of the hotel. Large room with a king bed and windows on the sides. Original CCC hand made furniture in room was a nice surprise. No fridge, microwave or coffee maker but a flat screen TV was provided. Outside was a patio area with a table and chairs... More

The room was neat and clean when we arrived. The front desk was helpful though the wireless was a bit spotty. Be aware there was no AT&T cell coverage at the lodge. Overall I would recommend them to others. The hikes around the lodge are okay but nothing compared to hiking Big Bend.

Indian Lodge itself is a Texas State Park and is located entirely within the Davis Mountains State Park. Built in 1933 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) it is a beautiful example of the craftsmanship of artisans grateful for a job in the Great Depression. The rooms are spacious and light, ruggedly built and comfortable at a reasonable price -... More

Loved it! We wanted to go somewhere special for our 15th anniversary and since we love west Texas, this was perfect. Gosh, this was such a nice place and I'm glad we chose it. We stayed in #123, which is in the historical section. I can't think of one negative thing about our stay. You do have to go up/down... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay in Room #122 , which we considered luxurious when compared to our previous night's primitive accommodation at the Emory Peak Lodge in Chisos Mountain State Park in Big Bend. This room is located on the highest level of the lodge and is a corner room with lots of windows for views. Nice, newly carpeted... More

Great room for a reasonable price. Beautiful landscaping and views of the mountains. The receptionist went out of her way to help me with a problem unrelated to our stay. The restaurant on site was a disappointment, however. Pathetic salad bar and ho-hum dishes at supper and even more pathetic Sunday breakfast buffet which was the only option on Sunday.... More

The Indian Lodge is a excellent place to stay while checking out some ofthe USA's national parks. The views from the hotel and amazing, and the park is wonderful place to hike and explore. I'd highly recommend spending a couple f nights here and really exploring the park. The staff are also friendly and wry helpful.
