The a/c didn't work very efficiently and the rooms were pretty small for a family of 4. The breakfast had packaged donuts and two cereals and coffee. The place was very quiet and the shower was a little skeptical but doable. We got a special deal of $40. The staff was friendly as well.

Motel is from the 50s, is fairly basic but has all you need (good bed, a/c, good WiFi, shower/bath etc). Not a lit to see/do in the town of Grants, but if you find yourself needing to stay here then this motel is OK. Price was fairly cheap and we got to stay in room 123 where Elvis stayed back... More

Our family of 4 stopped in here on our way out west recently. Overall we had an okay experience. However, if I had paid $70 or more for the room, I could not say that! But the hotel coupon booklets you can grab along the road had a coupon for a sub-$40 rate here, and that was a good deal... More

Returning from Las Vegas it seems to be appropriate to spend the night where Elvis spend the night after his wedding almost 50 years ago. So we got lucky and stayed in room 123! Clean cheap, great value for your money. No luxury, you are in a fifties motel on Route 66!

The Sands Motel was better than I expected. It was clean, nothing fancy, and the beds were actually comfortable. The carpet was a little old and needs to be updated. The owner was very nice and helpful in finding a place to eat. Good Mexican food with walking distance. We were on motorcycles and being able to have the bikes... More

If you have a low-budget, are adventurous and/or enjoy patronizing Route 66 establishments, then this may be the motel for you. This is a 1950's era motor inn that allows you to park right in front of your room. A place that looks much better when you pull in after dark than it does when you awaken the next morning,... More

I would highly recommend the sands for anyone hiking the cdt. Great rates with hiker discount, convenient location, friendly helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms with good wifi. Also why stay at a boring chain motel when you can stay somewhere unique with character

If your idea of a good place to stay for the night involves a key card, hallway and a plain, boring room that could be just about anywhere, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for an inexpensive, clean place to stay that has a little character, you might enjoy yourself here for the night! This is... More

Room was very clean. Shower had hot water. When I asked for help from the office they responded promptly. Internet worked well. Do not let the look from the outside be a distraction as you will fine comfortable accommodations inside. Would stay here again.
