Last month my wife and I traveled to New Jersey to take a cruise ship on a two-week tour of New England and Canada. We had visited Gettysburg back in the 70s and decided to make a return visit. Through TripAdvisor, we found the Lightner Farmhouse. And a great find it was. We truly enjoyed our stay --- brief as... More

Innkeepers treat you feel like family and make every attempt to make your stay extra special, including making last minute arrangements for a personal guide through Gettysburg National Park. Rooms were very clean and each one unique. Accomodations available for singles, couples and also small families; something not normally experienced in a B & B. Small table dining; most were... More

We so enjoyed our stay here. Our rooms were delightful, breakfasts were great(cookies available through-out the day, also good!) and all the extra info we got fromEilleen was so helpful in our visit to Gettysburg. We especially enjoyed rocking on the sideporch and relaxing with a glass of wine.

The outside of the house and grounds are beautiful, the inside is not as well maintained. A lamp switch was broken, the medicine cabinet door hit the light over it, the closet was extremely small. We got switched to a different room when we arrived because the previous guests had stayed an extra day. No queen size bed as promised.... More

All our rooms have a queen size or king size bed and their room had a queen bed. They booked through one of our travel partners not directly through us and therefore we do not guarantee a certain room. The room we gave them was larger and better appointed than the one we had initially planned for them. We also... More

This bed & breakfast is the perfect place to stay in Gettysburg. Historically interesting and comfortably magnificant, the Lightner House brings peace to your vacation. Eileen and Dennis, and of course, Betty, keep this house and grounds clean and well-kept. The breakfasts are yummy and hardy... keep you running till supper time! The beds are very comfortable. The peaceful setting... More

We just returned from a wonderful trip to Gettysburg and our stay at the Lightner Farmhouse was the high water mark of our vacation! This wonderful house sitting back off the road and just far enough from downtown to offer a quiet setting but easy access to everything is hard to beat. Eileen and Dennis the inn keepers are both... We stayed in the Walnut Cottage for two nights in August. The inn is gorgeous...set back from the road with beautiful grounds. Our cottage was very private and quiet. Beautifully clean, with very comfortable furniture. The A/C worked perfectly, and it was 93 degrees outside. Homemade chocolate chip cookies and beverages were provided. The breakfasts were excellent, especially the egg... More

After looking into several B & B's for our first trip to Gettysburg we booked the Lightner Farmhouse and are so glad we did. This historic building is in a quiet and beautiful setting only several minutes from the town centre. The inn keepers are very friendly as is the staff. A wonderful breakfast is served every morning in the... More

My fiancee and I stay at The Lightner Farmhouse for the first of July. Both Eileen & Dennis were very kind and went out of their way to help us make the most of our stay in Gettysburg. It is within 15 minutes of the town and Gettysburg park, so driving to the Major attractions of Gettysburg is only a... More

This farmhouse, turned Federal Hospital, turned B&B is the most historically interesting place we stayed at on our vacation. Eileen & Dennis are not only very hospitable hosts, they also run a very impressive and well maintained B&B. If you ever have the chance to stay here, take the Gettysburg night tour. We absolutely loved our new found friend, Betty... More
