We stayed at the Lightner Farmhouse for 2 nights. Everything about it was excellent: the hospitality and excellent breakfasts provided by Eileen, Dennis and Jason, the number of places to sit and relax and the historic house itself. We enjoyed Eileen's historical presentation as well.

Eileen, Dennis and Jason were wonderful hosts. They could not have been more helpful, pleasant and accommodating. Breakfasts were delicious!. There were several nice places to sit and relax. We loved Eileen's history presentation.

We loved staying at the Lightner farmhouse for 2 nights while visiting Gettysburg. Our room, the oak room, was spacious and had the comfort of air conditioning. The breakfast each morning was delicious and filling. Since we were there on a Wednesday morning, we had the opportunity to listen to our hostess, Eileen give the history of this old farmhouse.... It was fun meeting and interacting with this couple from Phoenix. Lots of chuckling over our Phoenix connection. So nice having smiling, friendly faces at the breakfast table! Please come see us again. More

1862 brick farmhouse, creaks with its age. Welcoming hosts on beautiful landscaped grounds. Close to battlefield museum and downtown Gettysburg. Breakfasts are creative and delicious. Rooms are updated but retain original feel.

A real home from the Civil War that was used as a hospital. The house has 7 guest rooms. I loved that it was air conditioned and had Wifi. We had a beautiful room with a poach right off of our room. It was more out of the city so it was quite and the surroundings were lush and green.... More

This was our first experience at a bed and breakfast; I must admit I loved. it. The farmhouse and surrounding land was beautiful; the interior reflects the era from which it was built. Eileen gave us a very informative history of the home, and the Lightener family. Breakfast was everything I love, the room was comfortable and very clean. My... More

I recently spent two nights at this lovely inn in Gettysburg. The owners greeted us together and showed us around the property, making sure we spotted the tea, coffee, and cookies available in the dining room, as well as the sitting room in the basement with bottled water and glasses for enjoying your own wine (or other beverages). The outdoor... More

Like many others, reading "The Killer Angels" stirred my desire to see and experience Gettysburg to the point that over the years it reached "bucket list" status. As we live overseas (in Bangkok) a visit wasn't quite as simple a task as it would be for someone living back in the States, so it finally was added on as part... More

So glad you enjoyed the bounty of our summer garden. We enjoy preparing a tasty breakfast every day but especially when we have fresh from the garden produce. This week we are baking zucchini bread (8 loaves already!). Nice meeting you folks and I would say "come again" but it is a long trip from Bangcok for sure. More

The hosts greeted us warmly and made us feel right at home from the instant we walked through the door. The property was used as a hospital during the battle at Gettysburg. Today it is comfy and inviting. After getting a tour of the property and settling in to our simple but tasteful rooms, we met on the veranda to... More

We were visiting a civil war battlefield in northern Maryland and decided to see if we could get a room at the Lightner Farmhouse. To my surprise, when I called, the inn keeper recognized me by voice and invited us to come visit and spend the night or two. Of course it was very much like visiting family. Everything was... More
