Eileen and David Hoover and their son Jason were the perfect hosts! They went out of their way to make me feel right at home and part of a family. My room was very comfortable but at the same time charming inline with the old style feel of the place. The grounds were gorgeous.

After 5 nights with us, we decided that Keith is now a member of the Lightner family. We enjoyed the morning talks with Keith and his gracious good humor. Come back anytime! More

Beautiful B&B. The Hoover family is so nice, friendly, helpful..I've stayed at many places in Gettysburg being that we have been going down for over 20 years. Lovely home, very comfortable room. The bed was beyond comfortable, got the best sleep ever. Shower awesome. Clean, good breakfast. My room had a fireplace. The best experience all the way around. Just... More

Excellent. I was the sole occupant during my off-season stay. Dennis and Eileen's son, Jay, took care of the daily care and cooking. He did a great job, and was very interesting to converse with during breakfast. Also met Betty and thoroughly enjoyed talking with her regarding the paranormal, and her personal experiences. I was also delighted to make a... More

A brand new farmhouse in 1862, it was turned into a military hospital a year later. The Lightner Farmhouse B&B is a terrific place to stay while visiting Gettysburg. The breakfasts we shared with the other guests were great. The service was beyond compare and directions, suggestions for the weekend were spot on. Eileen gave us the history of the... More

We had a terrific stay at the Lightner Farmhouse. The room was comfortable. The breakfast each morning was terrific. The service really was top-notch. They definitely went above an beyond what was expected to make our experience a good one. We're definitely planning to go back at some point.

Spent the weekend at the Lightner Farmhouse B&B. What a lovely place! Rooms were comfortable and clean, lots of character, beautiful atmosphere and decor. Spent some time hiking the grounds which was a lot of fun. Eileen, Dennis and Jason, made us feel at home, gave great ideas for things to see and do in the area, and the breakfasts... More

The Lightner Farmhouse is a comfortable bed and breakfast with many homely touches. We enjoyed the Cedar Room with its separate entrance into the house and verandah for afternoon tea. From other reviews we were looking forward to hearing about the effect of the battles on the towns people but Eileen instead gave us the family history of the farm.... More

We enjoyed having the Australian couple with us for a few days. The comment about history is puzzling because we give a brief history of the farm at check-in plus we have been offering a 30 minute history talk on Wednesday and Saturday morning during the busy season. One of the Licensed Battlefield Guides has written a lengthy history of... More

My husband and I stayed here for our second anniversary and our last trip before our baby comes in December. We couldn't have picked a better place. We stayed in the Birch room and it was comfortable and homey. The breakfasts were amazing and prompted both of us to think "Hmmmmm, can we make these waffles at home?" We enjoyed... More

We just returned from our first trip to Gettysburg. What a wonderful experience. We loved the quiet setting of the B&B. The house is charming and the breakfasts out of this world. We especially enjoyed the Saturday morning talk from a local woman who has researched the period before and after the Battle from the town people's point of view.... More

This was an awesome stay. Eileen was very accommodating and Jason's meals were to die for. Location and history added to our experience, as did the paranormal adventure. PS...Tommy's Pizza had great food. Thanks for the tip.
