My husband, young son and I stayed at the Lightner Farmhouse in July 2014. This was our second visit here and once again it was wonderful. We stayed only one night in the Maple room which was on the second floor in the front of the house. It was a larger room which was nice since we were provided an... More

Normally children are allowed only in the Pine Tree Suite and the Walnut Cottage but this was an exception and it worked out well. Nice family, nice young man! More

My wife and I stayed here with a friend and her 12yr old daughter and it couldn't have been more perfect. Eileen really made our stay a 'family' experience. She was so accommodating, knowledgeable and friendly that it made us feel like we had known her our entire life. Being my wife's birthday we brought a home-made key-lime pie and... More

We meet guests from all over the world and enjoy everyone but this couple will stay in my heart and mind for a long time. We had fun but had some rather deep conversations as well and I feel as though we got to know each other quickly. Hope they come back soon!!! More

What a fun time! We enjoyed the Pine Tree Suite, had a great time enjoying Betty's paranormal presentation, and we slept great! The breakfast was terrific, and walking around the grounds was super fun too. We couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable experience, if you want bed and breakfast in Gettysburg, this IS the place to go. Look no... More

As we turned into the drive, our first glimpse of the Lightner Farmhouse provided us with a feeling of comfort and the realization that our decision to stay here had definitely been worth waiting for. After he warm greeting we received at the door from Eileen Hoover, we knew this was a special place. After being given a tour of... More

This was the most relaxing and inviting bed and breakfast I've ever stayed in. In fact, we only planned on staying two days but felt so comfortable, we decided to stay another. The food was spectacular. .. the recommendations given to us were perfect. We planned the paranormal tour with Betty. It was a lot of fun but I'm not... More

This lovely B&B is a bit like visiting your favorite Aunt and Uncle's house in the country. The rooms are clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Our hosts couldn't be more helpful, sharing a wealth of knowledge about the area. This ante-bellum home is living history which provides a different perspective on the battlefield. Breakfasts are delicious and substantial. A favorite... More

This is the best decision we made for lodging in Gettysburg. Wonderful, welcoming owners who have a wealth of information on everything in Gettysburg. Beautiful, comfortable rooms and delicious breakfasts. Rockers on the porch for the evening glass of wine watching the fireflies sparkle in the garden. Doesn't get better than this.

Walking into the Lightner Farmhouse is like stepping back in time. If the walls could talk the stories they would tell. But innkeeper, Eileen, is more than happy to tell you some of the stories connected with this home built in 1862. We stayed in the Pine Suite which is basically the entire 3rd floor of the house and consists... More

The Hoover Family owns and runs the Lightner Farmhouse. We quickly realized when we arrived that they formerly ran the Cashtown Inn. Eileen welcomed and greeted us right away. She provided us the history of the Lightner Farmhouse with just the right amount of information. We were given a quick tour of the house, received our keys, and received information... More

We stayed at Lightner Farmhouse in April with several friends. It was the second stay for my wife and I. Both visits were could not have been better. We stay in B&Bs quite a bit and the Lightner Farmhouse rates at the top of our experiences. Eileen was extremely helpful in finding us find an experienced guide on both visits.... More
