The exterior and location are super. The staff was friendly and efficient and our room was very clean and up to date. The price was fine. I only had two reservations which kept me from five stars. First, we stayed in a suite and the bedroom did not have a t.v. This surprised me. Also the suite decor was not... More

Thank you for your kind review. We have talked over the years about having televisions in the bedrooms of the hotel. This may be something we consider as we update our televisions over the next few months. When we created the hotel we talked about using more 'authentic' decor in our rooms, but our building had changed so much over... More

Sweet, cozy hotel with an adjacent art gallery/gift shop. The front desk clerk was a bit harried upon our check-in and had forgotten to book our pre-paid ghost tour, but quickly booked us and recommended (and made reservations for us) the Dobbin House Tavern for dinner. We booked the Union Hotel Suite for one night. The fruit and bread basket... More

We just spent two nights in the lovely Majestic Suite. Everything about the stay was a delight. The suite was large, beautifully decorated, and a great place to spend our vacation. The muffins, fruit, and juice delivered every night were delicious! The kitchen was completely equipped. The bathroom was VERY large and pleasant. We would DEFINITELY return to this delightful... We stayed for three nights last week and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is spotless and the baked goods every day were delicious. We stayed in the Lord Nelson suite which was very quiet. The hotel is in a great location because we were able to walk all over town despite the rainy weather. We will definitely be back!

Just last month (September 2011) marked my 7th stay at the James Gettys. I usually travel down form Long Island, NY to attend the Annual Civil War Ball the end of January every year. Staring in 2009. I commenced returing in Setpember for the wonderful tours, the new Cyclorama at the Battiefield Tourism Cener and of course the ghost stores,... More

We were traveling west in Pennsylvania and due to a miscommunication with my spouse, shocking though it may sound, we didn't have a room for the first leg of the trip. At 4:30 PM I telephoned the James Gettys Hotel as this was a great point in the trip to stop. Katrina was very accomodating and we were able to... More

Just stayed weekend of 9/9/11 to 9/11/11 with my sister. We had a "girls" mini vacation which included working with Mark Nesbitt (author of the book series "Ghosts of Gettysburg") and his team. We arrived Friday afternoon and checked into our room. We stayed in the Lord Nelson's Suite which was very clean and spacious. We had a very nice... More

Thank you for the great review. We have a great time doing our job and we love it when we can spend more time with our guests as we did this past weekend during 'ghost quest.' This is just one of several special event weekends that we host throughout the year. We offer a special weekend focusing on Joshua Chamberlain... More

We stay here every year for a weekend in August. We both love it! It's in the center of Gettysburg. An easy walk to all the quaint shops and restaurants. The staff is excellent and the rooms are immaculate!

Wanted to do a Gettysburg trip for a while. I'm really interested in history. I stayed in the Blue Parrot Tearoom suite. Upon arrival I was greeted with fresh muffins and breads on the table in the kitchenette. It was like staying in some ones home, but in a good way. The furniture and bed was comfortable and the room... More

This was our third stay at this hotel. Wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in Gettysburg as this is the top of the line when it comes to lodging. We stayed in the Blue Parrot suite for three nights. What a fabulous room. The delicious home made pastries, the evening treats and the turndown service makes you feel special. Cleanliness,... More
