My boyfriend and I stayed here for our first visit to Gettysburg. We are both in our mid-twenties so getting this BNB right downtown made our first experience well worth it. Aside from the great location, the environment is warm and friendly. The staff was so courteous and willing to do anything to make us more comfortable (not that we... More

Quaint place with lots of history. On the Main Street, parking in the rear, limited if you have guests. However the management made sure we could fit all of our group in the spots. The staff was outstanding and the tavern attached next door was super. Would recommend to small groups.

We stayed at the James Gettys for three nights as part of our fall auto trip. Our rooms, the City Hotel Suite, were on the third floor and overlooked downtown Gettysburg. They were spacious and very comfortable and had many windows that looked out on the main street. City noises do not bother us at night because we use a... More

We stayed here for Remembrance Weekend. It is in close proximity to everything and we walked everywhere. You receive homemade breakfast pastries and muffins in the afternoon. However, we did not receive new coffee and orange juice. I'm not sure if that was an error or not. The room we stayed in was immaculate, however, I think it was a... More

Hi there! Thank you so much for reviewing our hotel! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, though I am sorry that your coffee and juice were not replenished. That was certainly a mistake on our part. I wish you had called the office, we would have been happy to bring them to your room immediately! We hope you will stay... More

First, is it a hotel? There is no restaurant so breakfast consists of a couple of buns and a glass of juice in your room! Placed the night before. Minimal staff on duty in the evenings. So maybe an Inn? The rooms are in dire need of updating - shag carpet, cheap hard furnishings. As it is, overpriced. Pity as... More

Dear Mr. E, Thank you very much for reviewing our property! I hope you enjoyed your visit to Gettysburg despite the rainy weather. I'm sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. Ours is a boutique hotel in a lovingly restored historic building, so we have met challenges along the way (such as a lack of public... More

We have stayed at the James Gettys' Hotel twice, and both times the service, continental breakfast and hospitality have been perfect. The owners and staff are attentive but not overpowering. They are knowledgeable about the local sites, but offer suggestions not "pushes". There was a change in a major program in the town and they printed off the details and... More

When we called to make our reservations we s/w Chris. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. When we arrived we were greeted by Trisha and she was great too, with great suggestions on places to eat. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Chris came for turndown service and brought our basket of breakfast goodies. OMG let me tell you... More

It was most comfortable and in a good position to explore the town. We were more than satisfied with what the hotel offered - comfy bed, lounge area and well equipped kitchenette. The continental breakfast, left in the fridge the night before, was delicious and set us up for our onward journey to JFK Airport. Nice little touches made it... More

There's a European feel to this place. Everything about it is different from the 21st-century generic chain hotel we're all so familiar with. Upon arrival, I left the busy city sidewalk and entered the narrow corridor which is the lobby. I rang the old-school bell at the desk - the person who staffs it does double duty at the adjacent... Hi there! Thank you for writing a review about our hotel! Your enthusiasm and descriptions made me smile. You are right, once you enter our lobby you are in a different era. My husband and I enjoyed our stay at James Gettys Hotel this month! We had the pleasure of staying in the Blue Parrot suite which was quaint and homey. The continental breakfasts were delicious and filling. Highly recommend this hotel! Staff pleasant and helpful.
