I sent my online request which included all of the information they requested. I was Never given or sent a confirmation of the reservation. When I arrived, as directed within the request, it was complete chaos. The working bartender, downstairs, attends to you (and couldn't care less about the hotel portion) After TWO hours, it was finally cleared up.. I... More

I've stayed here over the years a number of times and just returned from a 2 night stay. It's a small inn over a lively gay bar. If the noise from the bar will bother you request a room on the third floor. I've stayed up there as well as just over the bar on the second floor, like this... More

We arrived around 2:00 PM checked in at the bar with no problems. We had the smaller room it was clean decent sheets, thin towels , TV, clock radio . Just what you would expect for the 125.00 that they charged . Its all about location and Uncles is right in the heart of everything . Grant you its no... More

Clearly Uncles won't be to everybody's taste, but I've been before and I'll probably go again. It's a great location; a few minutes walk from a bunch of interesting places, restaurants, bars and the convention centre. The price is still extremely good and the bedrooms are clean enough and functional. It is above a fairly lively gay bar and the... More

The room was small/hot and dusty. The furshings old and outdated. I found the staff to be somewhat uncaring. No sense of urgency!!! They seemed more interested in personal conversation between patrons than checking me in. I had to wait several minutes to be acknowledge. I had orginally planned on staying two nights but was called back early...when I notified... More

Uncles is a unique destination. The rooms are clean, the location is superb, the staff is friendly and helpful. During the week it is quiet and comfortable. On the weekends if you choose to roam the streets or open your windows you will get a real feel of Urban life. Bruce Springsteen wasn't kidding when he wrote "Philadelphia" Uncles is... More

This is a nice, affordable place to stay if you are partying in the gay Philadelphia area. The rooms are nice and service is great! LOOK this is NOT a four star, luxury hotel. This is a place to crash after you finishing doing whatever it is you are doing. I would stay here again.

Uncle's Upstairs Inn provided a horrible lodging experience. Upon check-in at the run down bar downstairs, my partner and I were greeted by the foul stench of stale tobacco emanating from the early Reagan-era carpeting. The poorly appointed room in bad need of repair was dusted with what appeared to be body glitter -- on the floor and on the... More

We found this inn online and liked everything we saw on the proprietor's website. It is located in an incredible location and very well priced. We checked in after 10 pm on a Saturday and came up to a bar that had the same address as the inn. Confused, we asked the door man what was going on and he... More

The main attraction of Uncle's Upstairs is its location, nestled among several Philadelphia gay bars and clubs, as well as convenient to the arts district and walkable to the historic old town and various patriotic sights. Otherwise, it's a mixed story: the rooms are VERY small, but clean and pleasant. The complimentary "breakfast" consists of a basket of packaged danish... More
