This hotel was booked for us by a friend as we were all attending a graduation ceremony at the Academy of Music on Broad Street, and the hotel was an easy walk away. We only stayed one night. The first impression is rather strange, as you enter a tiny, drab grey lobby and face the door to a restaurant. As... More

Location of this hotel at 13th and Locust is perfect and lots of great little restaurants (Barbuzzo, Jamonera, The Corner, El Vez, etc) nearby (especially on 13th Street). The hotel seems more European in style than the many large chain hotels in Philadelphia. We stayed twice over the course of a week in a King Deluxe room and a Queen... More

So nice and different than the usual hotel chains. Our room was spacious, friendly service, all the amenities, breakfast delivered to your room. Would definitely stay here again.

When we arrived we couldn't find the entrance as they use the same entrance as the restaurant downstairs. As we were paying in cash we were told we had to leave a deposit of $50 per night so it was $200 for us as we were staying 4 nights this was to cover any damage or anything like that... They... More

Just stayed two nights at The Independent and found it exceptional. We arrived around eight in the evening and they were still serving wine and cheese in the very pleasant lobby area. The staff were gracious and welcoming. Our room was lovely and quiet. We were in town for a graduation so didn't do any sight seeing but this hotel... More

We just returned from a stay at The Independent and found it exceeded our expectations in every way. My husband and I were traveling to Philly with our 4 children (ages 19, 7, 5 and 3) and I searched high and wide to find an affordable hotel right in the city that would accomodate all 6 of us. We stayed... More

My husband and I stayed at the Independent this past weekend and it surpassed our expectations. The room was gorgeous and the bed very comfortable. Free wi-fi and a convenient delivered breakfast and Keurig coffee. All that plus a great location make the Independent a great choice.

My room was large, high ceilings, excellent drawer and closet space, and a modern, up-to-date bathroom. And free wifi. I was really only there from 7 pm to 7 am -- aside from dropping off my suitcase earlier and picking it up much later -- but the hotel was comfortable, convenient, and well-priced.

I recently finished yet ANOTHER stay at The Independent. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this hotel, folks. You simply need to come visit Philadelphia and just BOOK IT! Aside from the usual lavish amenities such as the complimentary internet service and continental breakfast delivered to your door each morning, the Independent recently kicked it up a notch... More

If location, price and ambience are high on your search list then this small hotel in Philadelphia will be a must. Located at Locust and 13th just a few block from City Hall it is great for walking the downtown area. The rooms are spacious and the cost was well below any other hotels in the area. Parking is arranged... More
