We found a deal on Groupon and had not been to Whidbey Island before so it was a great match. It is a lovely old building with lots of creaky floors, antiques and vintage charm. The rooms are small but nice, our bed was a little hard but generally comfortable and very clean, there was a sink in our room... More

My wife and I stayed two nights mid week at the Captain Whidbey Inn. I had read the reviews and was surprised by some of the comments. When we booked we specifically asked for an ensuite room. Some folks enjoy sharing their bath facilities - and more power to them - we prefer a private bath/shower. It was clearly available,... More

I had driven past the Captain Whidbey Inn last fall and it looked charming so when Living Social had a good deal for two nights I thought it would be a good time to try it as a nice getaway from Seattle. The property itself is beautiful -- Pacific NW, lots of trees and of course, right on the water.... More

Shared bathrooms, dark musty creaky rooms - maybe I'm not into the old fashioned charm but we were mis-led when we booked and upon arrival found a room that was out of the early 1900's. OK for some - but I need a bathroom that I don't need to walk 50 feet to, and some basic reading lights, and a... More

Husband and I booked a room through a Groupon for two nights. We were hoping to stay over Valentine's day but were not shocked when this was not made available to us. We arrived at the Inn at about 7:30pm. If you take the Mukilteo ferry, expect an additional 30 minutes to your journey if you hit rush hour. Unfortunately... More

Was worried reading the reviews but my adult daughter and I just had a wonderful stay here last week. Inn rooms are old style rooms all on the upper floor with shared bathrooms in the middle, adds to the uniqueness with log walls and creaking floorboards. There is a library upstairs and the place is load with antiques. We had... More

OK, we knew it was a bit rustic when we made the reservation. We upgraded to an executive room in the lagoon lodges. The room itself was huge, the furniture was lumpy, the sad excuse for curtains didn't actually cover the windows all the way nor did they block much light. The bathroom (compared to the size of the overall... More

We enjoyed another delightful day and night at the Captain Whidbey this past weekend. Inn rooms are small, warm, and very cozy. Shared bathrooms are clean, well supplied, and private. Madrona log walls, creaky flooring, old stone fireplace, ship models, stunning views, fine loaner books, and a real sense of a prior time are to us a special retreat. LIke... More

We chose the Captain Whidbey Inn to experience an old inn. It is beautifully decorated and feels charming, however the walls in the main inn are paper thin. When we were there most rooms were unoccupied so sharing the bathrooms was not a problem. There is one bathroom for women and one for men, both with one shower. They also... More

My daughter & I booked in last minute to spend Christmas with friends who had booked there previously. I gave the hotel clerk our friends name and confirmed that we were coming to spend Christmas with them and would require Christmas dinner. I told him I was fussy so would prefer a nicer room over cost. Upon arrival another clerk... More
