I had looked at this place on-line, and thought by the tiny thumbnail pictures that I saw, it would be romantic and historic to stay here. When I arrived after 10pm after getting on the 8:30pm Port Townsend to Coupeville Ferry, I was blown away, but not in a good way. The white lights on the historic inn building was... More

This was my first stay at the inn. I did not mind the vintage charm of the inn and loved the view but strongly suggest it is time to replace a few worn out items. One trip to a store like Costco or Target would go a long way to replace the flat pillows, the toilet seats with bubbled paint,... More

We were very disappointed with our recent get-away to the Captain Whidbey Inn. I had purchased a 4-night, 5-day package through Amazon so we decided to make reservations right after Labor Day. Although the the food was great, and the staff were pleasant, it could not make up for the shabby accommodation, which ended up ruining our trip! We had... More

When a place is advertised as "Delightfully out of step for over 100 years", the charm has to be more important than modern comfort. It is. We were reminded of the Spruce Point Inn in Maine where we stayed years ago in another time warp. The Captain Whidbey's rooms in the Lagoon building have nice views of the lagoon and... More

I went up to Coupeville with my mom, sister, and niece for a long weekend, and overall we enjoyed our stay at Captain Whidbey. The location is beautiful - the lagoon is really pretty, and the main bldg has beach access & lovely views all around. We stayed in one of the Lagoon Rooms, which are newer buildings than the... Understaffed and unprofessional. Run down room, dingy towels, no wifi, although they said there was, coffee maker did not work. Faucet is old and cost $9.99 and overhangs the sink 1" so you are touching the sink to wash your hands. Vinyl in bath is yellow and old not matching anything within the past 50 years - no doubt purchased as... More

It was through a discount voucher that we heard about this inn. We think it is just fabulous. Some complain about the very things we love: creaky floors, sketchy WiFi, no TV (yay!). We were in Room 6 that provided a spectacular sunrise beginning about 5:30 in late August. The living room --- with current NY Times, Financial Times, Wall... More

Visited for a wedding over the weekend. Must say it is a beautiful old inn. Pictures were stunning with amazing weather. Lagoon rooms have private bathrooms, but be warned the Inn rooms have shared mens and womens bathrooms. Overall was a very nice visit.

Stayed 2 nights for my sister's wedding which was in Oak Harbor. Our cabin on the water was very charming and the overall atmosphere of the place delivers on the woodsy cabin feeling if that is what you are going for. If you want modern luxury though, this is not the place. You are paying for location and atmosphere. Services... More

Beautiful grounds on scenic Whidbey Island just on Penn Cove. Great gardens and water views. We stayed at the Inn. Good thing it was an Amazon local or Living Social deal or I would have been really upset. Not sure about the cottages or the lagoon rooms. Our first day we checked in. He made sure we knew we paid... More
