The Captain Whidbey Inn is a quiet place, on Penn Cove. The Inn itself is constructed from logs, quite charming. Our room was in one of the lagoon buildings, somewhat more modern. Our bed was a bit softer than I like, but otherwise the room was fine. The staff was courteous and helpful, The room was clean and comfortable. There is... More

From the outside we were delighted. Walking in though is a different story. Our walk to the room, up a tiny staircase was met with creaking and cracking of the floor. The tiny room, which was only big enough for a bed and dresser, was underwhelming. The creaky bed was uncomfortable and we could hear "everything" our neighbours were doing... More

The rustic lodge is interesting in itself, built in 1907, it has retained it's history. The rooms in the lodge are: bed, a sink , a window and in some cases a chair. But it was prime for it's time. We stayed in the lagoon view room that must date from the 60's with pine paneling and no tv. But... More

This place is so quaint and charming. Good place to relax and unplug. No tvs in the room. No distractions. Just beautiful scenery. The rooms are rustic but very well equipped with comfy beds and they're clean. It's the perfect Washington tourist experience. There's not much to the breakfast and the restaurant for dinner is pricey but pretty good. Coupeville... More

Had a wonderful time – this is INN is a relic – very rustic; yes you have shared bathrooms (1) for women and (1) for men. The room was very lovely, on the smaller side – the view was incredible looking over the water. The customer service was okay - it was a busy weekend and a small staff. The... More

I decided to come here with some friends, us all wanting to get away for a bit. This was the best place to do so. It was peaceful, quiet and the food was to die for! We had muscles and their famous Mussel soup with salmon on top of it. Servers were all friendly and quick. Defintely going to come... More

You first drive into the property, and think how cute. You enter through the large red door into the lobby(be careful it doesn't hit in the behind, literally).. The lobby is "very" old fashion and you ring a bell for service. You are politely waiting on and we are give our keys, with the attendant telling us we have a... More

I grew up on Whidbey, so ate here, but never stayed until a few years ago. The Inn is just lovely. I prefer a cabin rather than the main house (low ceilings) but every room is lovely. And the food still rocks (you just have to have Penn Cove mussels while you're at the Inn).

This is a totally unique and peaceful Inn by Penn Cove. If you stay in the main house, you may be visited by ghosts of times long ago. A sprinkling of antiques, log construction, creaky floors and very quiet rooms await you at The Captain. Fortunately, this is not your average B&B. However you will need to share the showers/restrooms... More

I love the rustic authenticity of the property. The views and grounds are fantastic. The rooms could use some updating in the plumbing and furniture. I would give this four stars if the upgrades were completed and five stars if there was a little more privacy. We stayed in the lagoon view building and enjoyed the wonderful view...but this and...
