Stayed here as a stop-over travelling between San Francisco and Las Vegas. First impressions on the outside were good - the staff were friendly at check-in but the lobby smelt funny. The decor is very dated - from the 80s for sure. It needs some serious money spending on it to get it up to scratch. The room was fairly... more

This hotel in the center of Mammoth Lakes is badly in need of updating. The room carpets and furniture are worn, the bathroom floor and walls were dirty and the wallpaper was scratched and ripped. I needed to clean the microwave with an antiseptic wipe before I touched it and the wipe came out black with dirt. It was also... more

We booked our room through Hotels.com, which was fine, except that either the Hotels.com site or the Shilo site linked through Hotels.com didn't specify that we had to advise the hotel directly in advance if we were planning on bringing a dog. The night clerk argued with my husband over this upon checking in because they on'y have specific rooms... more

Our 4th trip to Mammoth Mountain. Having always stayed at Mammoth Mountain Inn in mid-winter (mainly because of location/ convenience), we thought we would stay downtown when skiing the week after Easter 2009. That was a good decision, as we could walk out to downtown restaurants, and shops....most of the on mountain mountain activity seemed "dead" in spring. Our room... more

This was the second time I stayed at the Shilo Inn this year. Front desk has been very friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the morning is a real bonus. The rooms are spacious and clean, covered parking is nice and I will stay there again. more

I did not stay at this hotel, but I gave a ride to a few partygoers on the way to my hotel. I found a camera in my truck the next day and figured it belonged to a person I dropped at this hotel. I had no name to go by. Natalie (the manager) at the front desk took my... more

The staff were all very professional, friendly and helpfull ( they even offered to help me with my snow chains) the large rooms were clean and bright... more

A very good place to stay for three nights while dayhiking in Mammoth Lakes and my third time here--didn't stay the last time only because the place was fully booked. If there was a problem, it was that our room hadn't been made up when returning around lunchtime from a morning trip--the maid had been right there in the hallway... more

This hotel is a real tourist trap. The AAA rating is a joke. The rooms were very basic, lots of things out of order : shower curtain torn, stains on the towels, toilet running all night. The beds are very unconfortable. The room smelled of dogs. I would honestly say that the pets are treated better than the people staying... more
