Seems there haven't been many reviews for this place, especially relating to the winter months for people wanting to use it as a base to ski - so here goes. My wife and I decided to book here as a base to ski at Mammoth on the Martin Luther King holiday weekend. We chose to stay in one of the... more

We went during a very quite time of year, no snow yet and not summer. It was private peaceful weekend away from everything. We stayed in cabin 10. A 1 bedroom with a large deck, full kitchen and gas fire place. Decent view of the lake. Be warned, NO TV. So bring your laptop movies and a good book if... more

None of the cabins are much to look at from the outside. but our newly remodeled Cabin 26 was absolutely beautiful inside ' extremely clean, sealed tight against the cold nights with a fireplace and great central heating. Scenic Lake with friendly fishermen. Cozy Main Lodge and a great restaurant for dinner. Check out Sunset Magazine Top 10 lake hideaways.... more

When we walked in, our first impression was it was like stepping back in time. Everything about the lodge is quaint and cozy. No drywall & plaster here, everything is wood - walls, ceilings, even the uneven floors (which just adds to the charm). We only wished they would have lit a fire in the lobby a few times during... more

Tamarack Lodge has GOT to be the GREATEST place for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of vacation "resorts" and find some true peace and quiet. It's up above the town of Mammoth Lakes, which has sadly become almost another Club Med type area. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, stores, and "trendy" (ugh!) spots... more

We enjoyed our stay at Tamarack. We stayed in a studio cabin (1 queen bed, small kitchen, small bathroom, $139/nt + 16% [!!] occupancy tax) that was buried in several feet of snow. Just getting to the cabin through the snow was an adventure! You have to walk to the cabins from the parking area in the winter, so anyone... more

Stayed at Tamarack Lodge over Labor Day Weekend 2005. From the web site the cabin was suppose to have rustic charm, and remodeled within 10 years. From the map on the web site, I called ahead to assure a remodeled cabin with a lake view. I requested Cabin #17 which was a total dissapointment. The toilet "rocked", the furnace bursts... more

The best thing about Tamarack Lodge is that it is definitely NOT for everyone. The cabins are rustic, and you actually have to drive into town to get to the bars. Yes, there are bugs here. And mice too, I'm sure, though we didn't see any on our trip. People who want a Westin or a resort-style property should stick... more

What a dump! The only good thing about this place is the view of the stars and the staff that let us leave a day earlier than our booked departure date. Sleeping in a tent would have been better than a supposedly “newly renovated” cabin number 8! My wife and I could have done a better renovation with instructions from... more

My husband I just returned from a magical trip to the Tamarack Lodge. We had a very charming, quaint and rustic cabin with a cozy wood burning fireplace. Our entire stay was absolutely magical. The staff is superb! I was nervous about not having a t.v., but after we arrived I was so glad we didn't have one as we... more
