Location is on twin lakes in the Mammoth lakes basin. The fall scenery is hard to beat. The bed was comfortable the day bed in the front room very nice. These rooms are small suites. A few tiles needed glueing down i the bath which was small. The are not true as this has been built in 1924 in a... More

We recently went on a trip to the Mono Lake/Mammoth Lake area to see the aspen fall foliage. We stayed one night in a cabin at Tamarack Lodge after staying one night in Mammoth at the Sierra Nevada Resort and Spa (we paid almost exactly the same price for these two hotels). Although we thought the Sierra Nevada Resort room... More

We stayed at the Tamarack Lodge in early October. Apparently it's now owned by Mammoth Resorts, and so they must believe that their mere ownership should garner the hefty fees they charge for their nice (not incredible) cabins and their extremely mediocre "continential" breakfasts. The "deluxe" cabin was nice, and it apparently had been redone. BUT it wasn't outfitted with... More

Upon arrival changed to two deluxe bedroom cabins from one three bedroom historic cabin to better accommodate the family's needs. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to insure our stay was enjoyable. The cabins are located in a beautiful setting with access to many activities close by. The town of Mammoth is five minutes away.... More

We've visited Tamarack twice and thoroughly enjoyed both visits! The lodge was built in the 20's, and the owners have done a great job of updating, while keeping the rustic and charming ambiance. Staff is helpful and friendly, linens were excellent quality, there is a woodburning fireplace in the cabins, adirondack chairs on the decks, and absolutely remarkable scenery in... More

Stayed in the deluxe 2 bedroom cabin-upgraded from one bedroom upon arrival. Nice view of the mountains and peek of the lakes. Very clean and well appointed. Right on Twin Lakes and close to several trails to Lake Mary and beyond. Only about 3 minutes from the Village but away from the condo scene which was nice because we were... More

I only use that term because I just watched a TED talk about how it's overused. In this case - not! I am suffering through a painfully slow internet connection (the *only* drawback of this place I have found, and they said they're working on it) to write a review...it is that good! My cousin and I drove through Tioga... More

Enjoy the staying in a comfortable and charming room. During the morning in end of summer, wake up early, have breakfast and get a bike for riding the mountain. You will have a really nice view of Lava Dome and nature. Get back for the lunch with a pretty view and go to the city enjoy this nice place. I... More

Stopped for one night on a road trip in one of the rooms with a shared bathroom. Nice room but perhaps a little small. All very clean and very friendly service. Good wine selection and a pleasant lounge to spend the evening. Which is good given it's about a 10 minute ride to town.

We loved the historic mountain lodge. Not so much being woken by the loud banging water pipes when other rooms used showers or toilets in the morning. We loved the welcoming and eager staff. Not so much the rusty water coming out of the bathroom faucet. Continental breakfast got old by the 3rd morning...this hotel is famous for its pricy... More
