We stayed there on a last minute trip to Mammoth Lakes. The hotel is cute and affordable but there was no A/C and it was very HOT in the room at night. The carpet is cheap and scatchy. The sheets were also poor quality and rough. Not a good nights sleep. At checkin, the employee was very honest about a... more

Rooms are outdated, like Austria in 1970's. Breakfast is minimal and there isn't a braeakfastroom. Noice from people coming from cellar bar. In summer half of restaurants seems to be closed and not much fun in mammoth lakes. There is a small pool but in the afternoon it is dirty again by insects. more

We stayed at the Alpenhof for 6 nights in January 2009 having stayed there five years ago. We were not disappointed at all. The location is perfect - right across the road from the village gondola. The hotel is not luxurious but the room we had was very large, was spotlessly clean and had its own sitting area. The staff... more

We stopped by overnight on our way home from lake Tahoe. The personal service was fine - the guy at the desk was friendly and I had high hopes of the room. I paid over $150 dollars for a room with a king bed on a weeknight, but I was sadly disappointed - it was small, the furniture was rickety... more

This hotel was part of a Virgin flydrive - I have since complained to them about the standard and location. The town was for the most part, closed, what it is like with snow, I don't know and we really wouldn't care to find out. Everything in that town was more expensive than anywhere else we stayed and had a... more

We are regular winter visitors at Mammoth and stayed at this hotel over the Thanksgiving weekend; it was our second time at this hotel. It is by no means brand new, but perfectly fine if you are not uptight and snobby. Our room, which was located over the restaurant, was huge (a queen bed and 2 doubles). It got pretty... more

We stayed in the Alpenhof Lodge as part of a fly-drive holiday with Virgin Holidays. The hotel is barely a hotel, more like a hostel. The rooms are dirty, dated, disgusting and we were bitten by bed bugs. The reception is never manned and you can not find anyone to make a complaint to. The reception is dated, probably back... more

We were quite disheartened to hear of this guests experience upon their return home - several weeks after their departure. We do wish we would have had an opportunity to resolve any issues prior to them leaving. Our front desk is manned 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Our rooms are clean and tidy though they may not...

I booked this place independantly via e-mail. Friendly staff, massive room - bathroom wasn't too brilliant but perfectly ok. I certainly wasn't asked for a damage deposit for the room as per a previous report. Also a really HOT jacuzzi for the use of guests. It was clearly pointed out that breakfast was really just a snack - coffee, doughnuts... more

This hotel looks nice from the web site and the price was good at $110 including tax for bed and breakfast. Unfortunately the hotel really let us down, it could have been so much better. We arrived at 2130, there was no one on the desk, we dialled 0 on the phone that was left on the desk, a few... more

The Alpenhof Lodge for many years has been confused with another property, the Austria Hof, in Mammoth. The Alpenhof Lodge is not located next to the slopes with any sort of views of the slopes nor do we have jetted tubs in our rooms. We are located across the street from the Village at Mammoth and the Village gondola, taking...
