Loaded with character and fascinating history, but it's very old and not well maintained. For instance, the bathroom tile is original to the 1920's (in my room it was yellow and turquoise with black around the edge), but a few tiles were missing. The room had two doors - one to the hallway and one to a covered veranda outside,... More

Agreed that the place has a lot of history, but OVERPRICED for the services provided. The place is not being maintained to retain the history and the nostalgia. The verandah leading out of the room has n't seen a broom in a long time, so too with the furniture in the lobby, which has seen better days. Apart from clean... More

And we didn't loved it at all. In fact, we took the room, saw the room and left the hotel to drive around 30min back and sleep at an other location. Yes, you have a lot of history, but I guess you need to be ready to live and sleep in that history. The check-in lady was rude and didn't... More

One person in our group described this place as "deferred maintenance" and that was putting it mildly. The Amargosa Opera House is run down, offers no amenities, and does a hard sell to persuade guests to shell out $20 to see a lone ballerina perform in the "opera house". There's no food available, just a pot of coffee if you're... More

Seems like the minimum is being done to keep this place running. The rooms are small and there is no service beyond check-in. Be sure to bring your own breakfast supplies as there is nothing on offer. The kitchen doesn't appear to be maintained regularly by the hotel staff. The water is hot in the showers and it undoubtedly has... More

This is a unique stop for tourists to the area. It gives you a look back to the roughness of living in the Death Valley area. The rooms appear ragged and run down with no amenities in the area. After a bit of sightseeing we kept going on down the road, not wanting to spend the night - which is... More

I made a reservation on February 7 for a one night stay on April 7, two months in advance of my stay. On April 7, they called to tell me they double booked my room (not just any room, but my room) and made a reservation for me at the Longstreet Inn & Casino in Amargosa Valley, 7 miles north.... There are limited overnight facilities around Death Valley, CA. This hotel takes advantage of that fact by advertising itself as "charming". It isn't. The overall facility is old and shopworn. The rooms are a barebones joke, and the front desk asks you to pay the minute you walk in the door. I suspect this is because when people arrive and... More

there was a problem with our reservation (through no fault of the hotel) and the manager went out of her way to help us find alternative accommodations. Way beyond the call of duty. The motel is conveniently located at the cross roads on Nevada site of the Death Valley. Warning - the restaurant is closed. Nearest food is 7 miles... More
