Location is great! Right across the street from where you get on the ferry for Cumberland Island. A couple of cats and a dog roam the place. I did have to ask for towels several times and our room was only cleaned one or twice. The day before we left when we got back they hadn't been there and there... More

An old hotel (100 years?) which could be a quaint experience. I was with a group so I don't know cost/value. Internet for computer worked but harder to connect for iPhones/Tablets. Individual room AC worked well. Lobby is crowded with memorabilia. A cat and dog (both friendly) room the place. Owners were comfortable with the lobby door open (for breeze)... More

I've stayed at the Riverview three times. It is truly a kind of time travel experience to stay here: a little like being in a Cagney movie from the 1930's Yes, it's a little dusty and there's a dog wandering around holding a fish-skeleton (with head) in its mouth. And a very friendly cat on a chair in the lobby.... More

I have to second, third, fourth... what other reviewers have said about the maintenance of this place. I've been in a lot of older buildings, and old doesn't have to mean dirty, dingy, or ill maintained, but that's how the Riverview felt. I wanted to love it, I really did, but I couldn't. The location is their best feature, right... More

I really wanted to love this hotel. The location right across from the ferry docks, beautiful big windows and the view of the river were unfortunately the best features. The historic hotel is lovely, but as another reviewer mentioned, the maintenance is really lacking. The common areas badly needed a vacuum when we were there. However, the rooms themselves were... A truly charming old building with wonderful old windows and amazing waterfront views. We loved being able to walk across the street to the Cumberland Island ferry. Breakfast was adequate, but no options for hot tea. The renovated bath/ shower was done with beautiful travertine, but basic maintenance and housekeeping is lacking. (Could someone sweep the beautiful stairway?!)We did love... More

This comfortable, old-fashioned hotel is located right in the heart of pretty St. Mary's Georgia. It is particularly recommended for anyone planning a trip to Cumberland Island, for the ferry dock is literally across the street. The hotel has been nicely restored by the couple who run it, and they have done a good job. The rooms are small but... More

This is an old hotel with minimal renovation / restoration. That is truly part of its charm. People in town told us it was reputed to be haunted, especially Room 2. We were delighted to be upgraded to Martha's room, on the corner of the hotel, with town and river views. We saw the signatures of the many celebrities who... More

St. Marys, Georgia is a little town on the St Marys River that time has forgotten. It has its own kind of charm. Just 40 miles north of Jacksonville, Fl. It is close enough yet far enough away to get away from the big city for the day or weekend. The Riverview Hotel has been owned and operated by the... More

My wife is born and raised in St Marys and we often make trips from south Florida to visit her family. On each trip I look forward to the opportunity to stay at the Riverview Hotel. This hotel really captures the charm of St Marys--it's quaint, warm, a little rough around the edges but always a good time. No night... More
