A very historic structure with an upper and lower porch that you can use to view the bay in comfort and peace. Old mementos decorate the facility and adds ambience to the restaurant and bar. St Mary's is a very attractive place with main emphases on the public park and its pavilion and water fountain.

I loved it! Historic building. Fun little bar attached with friendly people. Great porch to sit and have a drink on. The outside is looking a bit old that's because it's LITERALLY ACROSS THE ROAD FROM THE WATER! Breakfast was great. Yummy bagels. And the price was a steal. People elect far too much.

Fed up with soul-less mass produced 1500 bed hotels? Yep, us too. My wife picked the Riverview as we wanted to try somewhere different after 3 weeks in America. This hotel is eclectic, original, family run, quiet, friendly and about as old worlde as you can get. We loved it. Honestly, you could run it as a museum - artwork,... More

The hotel is old and could use a bit of updating but is full of character. The resident cats were endearing. The staff were really down to earth and authentic. I felt very comfortable staying there as a solo traveller. The bar downstairs is full of a blend of locals and tourists. Very friendly clientele and the manager was hilarious.... More

What a neat place. It's a bit old and not as polished as other hotels you may have stayed at, but it's a great value in a beautiful little town. We arrived early and our room wasn't ready, but Galia sent housekeeping to our room immediately so we could access it right away! The cat (Pepper) and dog (Jack) are... More

* NOTE: My great grandfather built this hotel in 1916. So, what you are about to read is biased, to a degree. That being said..... To have the best time at this hotel, one must get into the mindset that, as much as possible, you are going to feel like you are in a well kept, clean and authentic 100... More

I grew up in St. Marys and remember the hotel, restaurant and saloon to be a classier act than I found during this week's visit. The hotel needs a good cleaning, a fresh coat of paint, some new carpet in the stairway, and to address some rot to the exterior. The hotel is cozy and, despite the maintenance issues, worth... The Riverview is not fancy or elegant, but we found it to be a very comfortable place. Our room overlooked the river and was really cozy. Its location, across the street from the Cumberland Island ferry, couldn't have been more convenient. We were able to sleep in longer without having to worry about travel time to catch the boat. We... More

Kindest, most easy going people. Loaded with charm...graciousness...all amenities are available... None of the new...flashy...fast paced hotel feel, instead its old time charm and southern hospitality.

The Riverview Hotel has a rich history and looks like it was once a beautiful hotel. It still holds a lot of atmosphere of yesteryear. BUT, we felt quite sad looking at this hotel noticing how it lacked the TLC it desperately needs. We understand that it must be expensive to bring it back to its former glory, but removing... More
