Kindest, most easy going people. Loaded with charm...graciousness...all amenities are available... None of the new...flashy...fast paced hotel feel, instead its old time charm and southern hospitality.

The Riverview Hotel has a rich history and looks like it was once a beautiful hotel. It still holds a lot of atmosphere of yesteryear. BUT, we felt quite sad looking at this hotel noticing how it lacked the TLC it desperately needs. We understand that it must be expensive to bring it back to its former glory, but removing... More

We stayed here, because after many years in the hotel business, we learned that many hotels of this one's ilk (old and we'll seasoned in unique setting) are hidden gems! This hotel is one of these types, but could use a little sprucing up physically------balcony flooring a potential danger point! The restaurant and bar are worth visiting, but be prepared... More

The hotel is okay but be aware that the building is very old. The upper floors are quaint if you are old hotels, but the rooms and bathrooms are kindda run-down. That said if you are going on the ferry to Cumberland Island this hotel is absolutely perfect as the jetty is just across the street. Noise-wise the area is... More

We stopped here for a few nights on our way to Key West. It's old and the lobby is definitely in need of a thorough cleaning. The bedroom was cute and clean...and the bathroom had been remodeled. The staff was friendly. For a fee they will pack you a lunch, in their cooler, to take to Cumberland Island. Continental breakfast... More

If you just need a place to stay to catch the early ferry, it's ok. It is old. Needs some cleaning. Mattress was old and uncomfortable. Tv in our room didn't work. One night was ok. Probably wouldn't stay 2.

Spent 3 nights with our dog. Very handy for taking the ferry over to Cumberland Island. If you like new and polished, this place is not for you. This hotel is showing a lot of wear and tear but does have a certain amount of laid back appeal. I do think the lobby could use a major refreshing. There is... More

We stopped for an overnight visit. The hotel is quite old and needs some TLC. The adjoining bar had a couple of patrons when we got there, including a cat that made itself comfortable on the bar. I could smell animal in the lobby as well. The room seemed ok, but the sheets were old and oil stained. We asked... More

My husband and I stayed here in April 2014. The hotel itself is very old, and in some places shows its age. The 2nd floor deck really needed some maintenance to attend to some loose decking boards. We stayed in a room overlooking the river, which was nice. The room itself was fairly comfortable, but the bathroom was very small.... More

We were here about two years ago, decided to go back for our Christmas. We always take a two night trip for Christmas. We love this hotel. It's old, furnishings old, not fancy but if you like a Grand old hotel where the staff is really wonderful, great food, fun bar then this is for you. It's quiet, not a... More
