I read several bad reviews of Beatty's prior to a trip in 2013 so I did not include it in my SEAZ birding itiniary. What a huge mistake! I recently guided a tour with 4 other friends and we stopped in to Beatty's as I felt with 5 of us we'd all take the abuse. What a complete opposite experience.... More

First, let me say that I did not actually visit in May of this year, but wish I had. I now live in Albuquerque, NM, but lived in Atlanta when I made all my visits. I first started going to Beatty's in 2006 after reading about it in Birdwatcher's Digest. I have been there 5 times from then until 2012.... More

I've stayed with the Beatty's in Miller Canyon several times, usually with a small group, and have been in each kind of cabin/apartment, before and after the forest fire and flood. Yes, it is rustic, and that is the draw that brings most people back for repeat stays. They can accommodate small groups. The road is in very good shape.... More

my husband and I have been going to the beattys for about 15 years. they have been through some hard times due to the fire and floods but still have one of the most wonderful retreats from a hurried city life. the birding area is world reknown. the cabin on the hill is cozy. the views are spectacular.the hiking is... It was a bad experience all around. Didn't care for the owners at all, the scenery was disappointing and it was way too loud most of the time to really enjoy nature. Not at all worth the money and not what I came there for.

The fire of 2011 has definitely changed the local environment. Between the fire damage, a water irrigation project next to the property, and the newly commenced rehab of the property, the property resembles a construction site more than an isolated wilderness getway. While I can imagine the property's former rugged charm, it will take some years and labor to get... More

This is a great place, but requires a lot of walking. The walk to the cabins is very steep, be sure to ask for help to move in your luggage and groceries. There are no stores or restaurants here. You have to bring in your own food. The kitchens are very well equiped for cooking. This place is not very... More

First time staying here and I was very happy with the accomodations. All the Beattys we met were friendly and helpful and added much to our enjoyment of their place. The dogs were friendly as well and could be counted on to stop by for a good petting. The scenery and of course the birding were the reason I chose... More

Really enjoyed our stay. Tom sr. and Tom jr along with Edith made our stay really nice. Clean cabin, lots of hummingbirds and beautiful area. Would stay again in a heart beat.

We have stayed here 5 times in each of the types of lodging. Each is a little quirky but totally wonderful. The hosts are very friendly. This is definitely a birding or outdoor place. The hummingbirds of course cannot described-we have seen all the ones that have been there except one. The hike up the canyon where there are red... More
