We were looking for a reasonably priced place and many hotels were sold out in Ojai, so we decided on Ventura. The Vagabond Inn is in a central location, right next to the active railroad tracks. This did not bother us, FYI; although we were not in a room close to the tracks. The rooms are pretty clean and have... More

Thank you for the thoughtful review. There are only 6 to 8 rooms that have those small chairs. We should be getting new ones next week. They do look retro though! I have talked to the company about the water pressure. They said that the valve in the shower needs to be replaced with a pressure balance valve. When they... More

We were able to walk to downtown, parks and pier from the hotel. Beds were good, looks like they are in the process of remodeling. Staff was friendly & helpful. rates were reasonable. We'd stay there again.

Thank you for the review! Yes, we are remodeling some of the rooms. It would be nice to close down and do it all at once, but that's not practical. We hope you come again. More

This is a good location to the downtown area and the beach. We parked our car at the motel and walked everywhere while we were there. The Saturday Farmer's Market is only a few blocks away. There is a pedestrian bridge close by that goes over the freeway to the beach and beach restaurants. Down town shops and restaurants are... More

Thanks for reviewing us! We don't have a commercial kitchen, so we can't serve breakfast. Everything we offer has to be prepackaged for sanitary reasons, according to the City of Ventura. The pastries are made at a bakery and sent over everyday except Sundays. I have talked to Technical support about the Internet being slow at times. They have agreed... More

We stay in Ventura quite a bit throughout the year, for only a few days. I always stay at the Vagabond because they accept pets and have decently priced rooms. It isn't the fanciest of hotels by any means, but for what I need it works. For me I want a comfy bed, roomy shower, air con., & wifi. This... More

Thank you for giving us a review! I'm glad you like to come here with your pet. I have hired two extra people to help out on weekends. It was slow for a while, so we didn't have enough staff when we filled up unexpectedly. We normally get busy in May, but this year we have been very busy in... More

This is one of the only reviews I've ever seen that reviewed the vending machines. I don't usually use them, so it's nice to know. Hope to see you again. More

We honestly will never stay there again. The room was not that clean. There was wall paper pealing in the room in several places. Our refrigerator didn't work but I do have to say they did change it quickly. It was very noisy . There was people thumping around up stairs and running on the upstairs balcony. There was also... Thank you for your comments. I will talk to the front desk clerk about her attitude. Check in time is 4:00 pm, but that is no excuse for being rude. I am having signs put up around the property and handing out pet contracts to guests that check in about the leash thing. I have noticed that as well. More

Thankfully found this place while frantically seeking a last minute hotel in either Ventura or Santa Barbara. Seriously, this was the only place that had any rooms! So in that sense, I am and will forever be grateful for the Vagabond Inn. The man who checked us in was also awesome, funny, and super nice. The room itself was just... More

I am sorry that there was no soap in your room. Honestly, we do have soap. I will follow up with the staff about it. We also have soap and shampoo at the front desk. If you have a chance, I'd like to know which room number had an odor. We might need to change the mattress. I'll have the... More

Every time I went to the office the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was clean but a bit shabby. Much of the furniture was older, not real clean chairs. The ocean is just a short walk away. :)

Thank you for the review. We have some new furniture going into rooms this spring, and most rooms are getting new chairs. We are replacing some carpet too. The sooner the better! More

Clean, quiet, comfortable beds. The cost was reasonable. Short easy walk to the pier. Dogs welcome, but a few were barking, didn't hear any at night. The people at check in were friendly and quick. We planned on one night but stayed two. Nice little tourist town to explore within blocks. Quite a few hhomeless, so secure your valuables. There... More

Thank you for the review. I think the town was built around the train in the beginning because it does run right through the downtown area. We are glad you enjoyed your stay, and hope to see you again soon. More

I was looking for a hotel with access to the beach and pier at a reasonable price. This hotel fits the bill. I booked on Expedia and unbeknownst to me (because exact location of hotel was unbeknownst) I inadvertently booked in Oxnard Vagabond just down the road. But I didn't want Oxnard (beware of Exoedia and similar who can be... More

Thanks for letting us know about your stay. I have a list half a page long of things to check just from your comments. I will have someone check every refrigerator. I will have each one set at the same temperature when the room is cleaned as a check-out. I will also have every bathtub checked to make sure the... More
