This hotel IS A RUN DOWN hotel in THE BEST location ever! The staff thinks you are there to support them. Other than that, the sounds of the ocean are wonderful.

Having been cheated of a Mexican getaway due to a stolen passport, my husband and I looked for a last-minute deal close to LA that would give us 1) ocean view 2) rest and quiet and 3) not cost an arm and leg. We got all three at the Cliff House. Upon entering our room which had a "stairway view"... More

If you have read the other reviews, there is not much for me to add or subtract. We booked a queen room for the March madness rate of $97. A weekend getaway/birthday celebration. It is quite a feat to even arrive as you must make a left turn across the 101 if approaching from the south. Upon arrival we found... More

This hotel charged my card four and a half months after we stayed there and never contacted us that they were issuing a charge after the fact. In my mind, I feel this accounting is unacceptable business practice. The hotel should be required to keep adequate records on all charges, so the customer is not concerned with fraud later. This... For over thirty years, my husband and I have driven up and down the Southern California coast on various trips/adventures. Each time we passed The Cliff House in Carpinteria, we'd comment that it looked like an interesting place to stay, and we'd better investigate. Comment was all we did until this past weekend. On a spur of the moment, I... More

As you will read from the many posts here, this place has some real issues. Management has done little to improve this place which is a shame. Bed, pillows and furniture are old and outdated. Shower runs hot and cold. Wallpaper peeling, windows don't lock. Walls have plumbing bulges and the structural problems will probably take this place down in... More

I had read the very mixed reviews, so had incredibly low expectations. I should have lowered them MUCH further. This place makes the Motel 6 look like the Four Seasons; there were so many health and safety violations, I'm surprised this property has not been condemned. The first room I checked in to was literally filthy. The assorted stains on... More

We've stayed at this hotel a couple of times. I think they have a package which includes restaurant which the food is supposed to be superior. We typically have the gratis continental breakfast and take out other meals out(at the Palms in Carpenteria for instance) The stay can be a bit pricey by nromal income standards but I give it... Some people expect perfection everywhere they plop their butts. If you don't enjoy the companionship of the person you're with, or your own company, there's not much to do at The Cliff House Inn. My wife and I only go to relax and enjoy ourselves and each other. For over 20 years we have gone to the Cliff House Inn... More
