We stayed at the Camino Real Hotel for the National Bowling Tournament in El Paso. It is right across the street from the Convention Center, the tournament venue. The rooms were a nice size and clean. The hotel bar is great with drink specials for guests and live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The bands were great, if a... More

This hotel has an excellent location, lots of history, and is pretty upscale for El Paso. The only downside that I kept seeing was the rooms. After doing a bit of research, I found out that there is an executive floor which is the 8th floor. You do not have to be a corporate-type or even there on business to... More

A genuine historic hotel, this place, formerly called the Paso Del Norte Hotel, was built in 1912. While, much of it is still historic, the hotel doesn't promote it's history, nor does it promote the city and it's great location. The rooms are nice and decently priced, but, overall, it appears it lacks good management -- ice machine didn't work,... More

This place is beautiful in the entry. That is where it stops! The rooms are just nasty. The bathroom had black calk, calk breaking off the wallpaper, yes wallpaper that was peeling off the walls. The shower spit out water, the knob was so old it was stripped. The bathroom floor leaked from the floor, we had to put down... More

Stayed here while bowling in the USBC tournament at the convention center. Historic hotel so few things are new, especially in the bathrooms but everything worked fine. The Dome Bar was pretty spectacular. After walking around downtown (dead at night) we ended up back at the hotel for dinner and ate in the Dome Bar. Food was very good. Parking... More

Right off the bat I was placed in the wrong room...no big deal it was fixed. Walk-in the second room and I felt like I walked into a freezer. Tried to fix the temp nothing worked till I set the heater to 90 degrees. I'm here on business and have been working long hours so, of course they test the... More

This is a nice hotel to visit, if you are interested in El Paso history. However, this hotel has not been properly maintained. Rooms look and smell old. Furniture and carpet in my room was stained, just from years of wear and tear. AC did not work properly, and when I asked for service, it felt as if I was... More

Shuttle service was disappointing. Hotel breakfast buffet slow and cold. Room overlooked bar area and thanks to nightly entertainment we had music until 2 a.m. Commotion in hall and outside hotel until wee hours. No current city maps available. Lack of restaurants within walking distance. Shuttered/closed businesses abound. Close to convention center and museums was a plus. Interior of lobby... More

If you want to experience the flavor of old time El Paso, this is the place to stay. The stained glass in the "Dome" bar is worth a trip all on its own. We were fortunate to have a talk by a UTEP professor on the history of the hotel - designed by Henry Trost. This was one of the... More

Dear PMJC, Thank you so much for your kind words and nice review. We are glad you enjoyed our Tiffany stained glass dome at the Bar. It was built in 1912 and has seen the likes of many legends that have walked into our hotel. Pancho Villa, Amelia Earhart, Eleanor Roosevelt, Bob Dylan, U.S. Presidents Taft, Hoover, Nixon and Bush... More

Loved this hotel. Old and once upon a time Very grand. The chandeliers are huge and a wondrous design. The stained glass ceiling over the immense bar is Tiffany inspired. The curved bannister rails going up from the main floor are brass. Our room was had beautiful old mahogany furniture in it.
