We booked three nights at this hotel with no expectations, but were very pleasantly surprised with our stay. The room was small and a bit run-down, but perfectly clean, cool in the heat wave, and very quiet at night. The location is perfect - right off Central Park, and within 5 minutes' walking distance to two subway stations. You're about... More

The Rooms in Astor on the Park are decidedly small, it was clean and the sheets were very soft. It reminded me of my son's dorm plus a full bath. The highlight is the wonderful location next to Central Park, the subway and wonderful restaurants. Astor is also blocks away from the savvy West Harlem bars and entertainment. The staff... More

The hotel is a little better than I expected after reading all the reviews here. The room is not big, but not too small for 2 persons with a king size bed. The decoration is up-dated and pleasant. The bathroom is "surprisingly" big with good shampoo and lotion supplies. We asked for a room with a "park view." The hotel... More

The hotel is located on the upper west side Central Park is across the street, bus and train station are nearby. Our room was small good enough for my wife and I, the bathroom was neat and so was our bed. No bedbugs so was a plus. If you are going to New York you shouldn't get anything fancy anyways... More

The elevator never worked. The maids came into the rooms whenever they wanted. They just barged in without knocking or making sure it was empty first. The TV has 2 channels both in foreign languages. No closet space whatsoever. You don't feel cool air unless you're right next to the box. All the pictures online are deceiving.

The elevator doesn't work most of the days. One of my friends actually got stuck in it for 20 minutes when it broke down. The carpet looks like it has never been cleaned and the air conditioning makes an extremely loud sound. The service is terrible, I asked for someone to send up ice and I never got any ice.... More

the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Great location as there are two subway stations right near hotel. Staff is very helpful and even found me a parking space in front of the hotel for free. No frills, but great place to lay your head.

The staff is absolutely wonderful! We ran into a problem with our reservations through a third party website and they did everything possible to help us fix it. Not to mention we must have asked a million questions about which subway to take and where we should go visit, they were just awesome! The rooms are small but it was... More

Gave my self a milestone birthday present, a round the world trip, NYC last city. So I had stayed in a few before New York, mostly cheaper and ALL much better. WHAT A LET DOWN. down at heel, needs gutting and redoing. Room small not even a chair or stool. NO frig, no coffee machine or electric jug, no communal... More

Ok - l'll start by saying I have traveled for work and for pleasure, and stayed in hotels all around the world, from 5 star to utterly disgusting. This was more like the latter, but a slight step above. It is on par with an Eastern European BUDGET hotel. If you are traveling internationally and are pinching pennies - then... More
