I stayed at one of the hostel shared rooms. I've travelled along different hostels in different continents and it is quite expensive for what you get. You even have to rent the safe. The linens and blankets left much to be desired and have to bring your own towel, for $50 usd, is quite a crappy experience. Wireless is ok.... More

I stayed at the Gershwin hotel for 5 nights in April and found it to be really good value for money. I booked a superior room and from the reading alot of the previous reviews even booking a superior room I was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised when i entered the room. It was really clean and sheets... More

I stayed in the Gershwin Hostel as the first stop on my RTW trip. I was a backpacker, with a backpacker budget, and backpacker expectations, which is why I can give a 4/5. It wasn't perfect, certainly there are one or two bad points, but I was looking for a clean bed, in a good location and that is what... More

This place has a beautiful front, a nice lobby and it seems hip. But the room was the pits. The beds in our room moved around on their wheels and the (not hip) old wood floors. Every time we moved in the bed, it moved, rolled. I thought I'd fall out. And I could feel all the springs in the... More

Me and my boyfriend spent 4 nights here. What a great location! Right on 5th avenue, within walking distance of the empire state building. This is not a luxury hotel, our room was small and sparse - the bed was a standard double but comfortable. However there was a wardrobe, and room enough for both our suitcases. The room and... More

I spent five nights in this artsy hotel with my family and was pleased with the service, location, and room for the rate we got. The rooms are fairly small but the showers are plenty big although the water heat can be touchy. Rooms were cleaned daily and the staff was extremely friendly assisting us with directions, bags, restuarant ideas... More

I have just got back from a four night stay at The Gershwin Hotel, New York with my boyfriend. Before going we did read some of the reviews on here which are extremely mixed. The first thing I will say though is for a three star the service and location is faultless. If you want a luxurious stay then chose... More

Close to subway, lots of eating places around. Bed fine, room even had a view (over building site, so bit noisy, but did not bother us much). Quaint bay-windows with wooden shutters. Little coffeeshop Birch attachted to hotel is great, but in weekends doesn't open till 8 am. 7/11 around the corner though. Shower was either scorching hot or luke-warm,... More
