Me and my partner stayed in a double bedroom in Sept 2011. There was a leaking (more like a running tap) tap in the bathroom, which we asked to be fixed as soon as we got there. We were told no worries. When we returned to our room it was still running, you could hear it with the bathroom door... More

If you are an artist or a lover of art, this is the hotel for you. It makes you feel like you are in 1950s Expressionist New York. It is cheap, and kind of grungy, which is what I loved about it. Caters to the starving artist. I ran up the stairs to see each floor for the artwork. More

I go to the city once a month on business and used to grab a train home the same day but decided to investigate The Gershwin to see if it felt safe and clean enough to stay there. Yes, on both counts! It's Spartan, sure, but do I really need to pay $250 a night to have a coffee maker... More

Gershwin Hotel is located in a nice neighbourhood with good restaurants and coffee shops just around the corner. Staff is friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Essential Room No 343. It contains all what is needed for a city trip and is spotlessly clean. Bed is a bit small (1.4m) and there is also not much space in the... More

I arrived at noon on a Friday in mid December, so I expected the hotels in the city to be busy with X-mas shoppers and early checkin not likely. So when I could not get my room until 3 PM, I wanted to leave all my bags. However, the porter said they could not accept a laptop bag "for security... More

Stayed in a private twin with a friend. Room was pretty small (but it's Manhattan!!) and bunks were a bit rickety. The room was BOILING hot at night which made it difficult to sleep but I suppose heat rises and we were high up. Other than that, the room was fine. The ensuite was shabby but ok, we had no... More

Me and my friend stayed in a Superior Double bedroom which was very spacious and a perfect place to explore the city. Walking distance to the Empire State Building and rest of the city. Also close to the subway if you dont like walking. The only complain was that there was no hot water when we got up in the... More

From the moment you pull up to the Gershwin, you know the experience here will be different from any other hotel. The art you see initially is continued on every floor, even in the lift. The relaxing shared spaces downstairs are used for various performances including readings and musical experiences. Its worth checking what is on so you dont miss... More

I stayed here for three nights and the whole stay was terrible. I booked a shared room with 3 others. When I arrived I was told that it actually was a 8-bed room, I went upstairs and found that all the beds were used. Went downstairs and told the staff this and I got "upgraded" to a 4-bed room but... Average rooms, but very good service and the location is great. All these at a reasonable fare. More
