We traveled to New York with our 11 and 8 yr old daughters and my mother and wanted a relatively inexpensive but comfortable hotel. We had a "family room", which gave us two rooms, one with twin beds for the kids and another with a double for us. My mother had a room of her own. It worked out very... more

The Gershwin Hotel in Midtown, New York, is a great option for those who don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on accommodation. Single rooms start at 109 dollars (excl. taxes), and they are basic, clean and good value. The location is great - next to Fifth Avenue, The Flatiron Building and Empire State Building- and the staff are helpful... more

I recently booked an economy room here. The room itself was ok - hardwood floors, pretty clean, a small bathroom which is nice considering most economy hotels in NYC have a shared bathroom but the "hot" water was only luke warm. The mattress was good. Towels were average, linens as well.Well you get my point. Nothing stood out good or... more

I recently spent 4 nights at the Gershwin Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It was my first time in NYC and the location was perfect for accessing all the nearby sights and neighbourhoods. The room itself was a bit on the small side, this was expected given the extremely reasonable nightly rates. Occasionally, it took several minutes for the... more

I stayed at the Gershwin Hotel in June 2008 on a trip for my 21st Birthday. I was travelling with my mum who is used to luxury hotels, she found it ok but for the money I felt the Hotel was excellent. I would definitely recommend it to groups of friends wanting to travel and explore the city. The hotel... more

My Gilfriend and I had a wonderful stay in this friendly hotel. Beautiful art work everywhere. excellent helpful staff . The rooms are quite small but there is enough room for you both to move freely. The bed was comfy and for us most importantly clean (no insects to bite us!). The shower was good and clean also. It's fair... more

The front of the hotel is something to see and the inside gets even better...crazy artwork throughout . The staff was incredible. From check in to check out everyone we dealt with was accommodating and so friendly. We couldn't check in right away but they were able to hold our bags and when we finally did they had upgraded us... more

Stayed here for 4 nights. room is very very basic. Staff were friendly and polite. Apparently they upgraded us, so i wouldn't like to guess how small the very basic room was. It is in a very good location. Not far from Empire state building and close to 5th Avenue. That was the plus side. On the down side it... more

I absolutely love the Gershwin. I stay there often, and have found it to be consistently reliable. From the moment you enter its doors, the staff are friendly and accomodating. The hotel has a concierge desk as well as a small cafe area where you can enjoy some cappucino while listening to artistic endeavors adjacent to you, in a grand... more

I visit NYC regularly but usually stay with friends. This time I visited with friends from out of state and we decided to stay at a hotel. I knew of this hotel from my earlier days of hanging out in the city and remembered it as a funky place. It still is a funky place, totally chill and the hotel... more
