We stayed in floor 10 and EVERY MORNiNG without fail we were woken with an almighty crash of the heavy fire door opposite...everytime we were dozing back to sleep there it was, absolutely intolerable. Having stomped out to the corridor pyjama clad on morning 2,I asked the chambermaid if she could possibly stop banging the door...did it make a difference? No.... more

i had a reservation in the Moderne-a sister hotel. they had no room due to a "plumbing" problem so they sent me here. my room was very tired and used. the bathroom was disgusting-sink falling off wall, damp musty odor, shower handle was loose--the whole place gave me the feeling this was once a 'SRO' hotel that suddenly became a... more

Never again. I should have known better. The internet reviews weremisleading. The bad omens started when we got off the elevator on the 11th floor. It was dank, dreary, the rugs were rumpled and the wall paper corners were turning down, a hotel down on it's luck. The room was far worse. The plaster over and around the window was... more

I think most points on this hotel have been adequately covered in recent reviews. There is no question that the hotel has a prime location, close to most Broadway shows. The main problem is that it has seen better days and is in desperate need of a facelift. Personally that didn't bother me as it all added to the amazing... more

I stayed one night (Saturday) at this hotel. We checked in and were given a room on the 10th floor. I am well aware that city hotel rooms are smaller and was fully expecting it, but this room was ridiculously small. You could not have the closet door and the door to the room ope at the same time. The... more

I was one of 3 couples that spent 2 nights at this hotel we all complained of freezing rooms after the first night and the 2 couples with views complained of jack hammering all... night which continued into the second night. We all asked for extra blankets on the 2nd night with the response there was no blankets left, my... more

We went to the Ameritania when we stayed in NY and I was nervous about the reviews on here. We had no problems whatsoever. My husband is an exterminator and checked our room completely before we even put our stuff down. The hotel was safe and was just fine for our purposes. It was RIGHT on Broadway, next to the... more

Out of all of the reviews on here, I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the beds. Easily the most uncomfortable, awful beds I have ever slept in. The hotel itself is nice. Nicely decorated, clean, helpful staff. You really can't beat the location either. But really, those beds were awful. Besides the beds, there was no thermostat control in the... more

Thank you for sharing your feedback. The issues mentioned in your review are all in the process of being addressed. It may be surprising but many hotels in New York City - the same age as ours - have similar room sizes as we do. That being said, we do offer many larger rooms as well. While we cannot increase...

The location of the hotel is excellent; ten yards around the corner is Broadway; with Times Square about 150 yards. The hotel staff are very good, pleasant and helpful. We travelled with my wife's brother and his wife - our room was a reasonable size whilst their's was half as big again - however, our bathroom was a good size... more

My friend and I kicked off our 3 week trip of america with a 4 night stay in NYC and the location of this hotel was excellent. Easily within walking distance of times square, bus tours, central park, 5th avenue and broadway. The hotel was comfortable however the rooms and beds were very small. We were on the top floor... more
