Went to NY to see the Christmas Lights. The hotel was under construction. The staff went out of its way to be friendly. Our room had everything new and had the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. The bed had a very comfy new mattress with a brand new white down comfortor. It was decorated with new red pillows.... more

I stayed here when it was called HABITAT and it was ok to be honest for the price I paid for the location. I too had mice running around the room. But it would appear not much has altered since 2003. I'm going back to NYC tomorrow and decided to look this hotel up again .... But really I dont... more

If we were sleeping in the lobby we would have been happier than we were in our room. We booked a double room and got dirty closet with two beds shoved together (that barely fit). The bathroom was moldy and dirty, the toilet nasty, the carpet still had garbage left from the previous occupants,We saw evidence of mice,Our neighbors, who... more

Beautiful Lobby. Good location.Bathroom clean. BUT Room grubby, camp bed for the second person, which had a tendency to collapse. MICE running into room. When I spoke to reception about this the man replied that the mice probably were not fussy, and would go into whichever room we got moved to, so there didn't seem much point. For the amount... more

This is absolutly the worst place I have ever stayed. I am surprised that it is still open and hasn't been shut down by NYC. Like the other reviews, the lobby looks nice but it totally stops there. I don't know where they took the pictures of the rooms on their website but it obiviously was not at this hotel!!... more

We went to 10 different locations in the US + Carribbean during our honeymoon. We specifically asked if the hotel would fit this purpose. This was our last stop before going home. We were supposed to stay there for five nights. We arrived there around 1AM and left the suitcases downstairs and went up to the room. It was DIRTY,... more

The Habitat was undergoing renovation when I visited, working upwards floor by floor. As I'd paid a cheap rate for a single room, I was on one of the upper floors. The room was clean - and cleaned everyday - and while it was very basic, it was fine for me as a single traveller. Of the permanent, institution-ready residents... more

I was curious if things had improved at Habitat but see it hasnt. My husband and I stayed there for two nites not long after it opened (don't remember the year). I had been in the lobby and checked it out first. It seemed pretty nice and in great part of NYC and yes the price was right. We had... more

My friends and I took a graduation trip to NYC in March of 2005 for a week. We stayed at Habitat Hotel. The room was very small, with two single beds and barely enough room to walk between them. Luckily you could store your luggage underneath the bed if necessary. --we stacked them in piles in the corner of the... more

I wish, wish, wish I had known about tripadvisor when my husband booked this for a friend and I over the internet, just after we ran the marathon. He had to go back to work, but we stayed on to treat ourselves to a week of all that NYC had to offer girls about town. We had been staying, as... more
