New York's Upper West Side is a great neighborhood where people actually live. Yet, the Lucerne is close to the usual tourist spots: Broadway theaters, Lincoln Center, Central Park, museums, restaurants--all within walking or easy subway or bus transportation. The staff is friendly and courteous, the rooms are immaculate, so what more can anyone want? It's not the most luxurious... More

On our last trip to Lucerne was in July 2011. Hotter than you know what outside but the aircondition worked beautifully. I love the UWS and hate to be hanging out in touristy areas of anywhere. The restaurant in the hotel is lovely and next door is a great fluff and fold service. Extremely convenient to subway which is one... More

We stayed at The Lucerne for 12 days from end December 2011 through to the second week of January 2012. Apart from an initial disappointment that our room was on the 5th floor, and not higher (as had been promised during long phone conversations when making the booking), our stay here was first class. The lower room wasn't a problem.... More

We recently did an overnight trip to New York City and stayed at the Lucerne Hotel. We drove into the city and found the hotel easily. Valet parking was available, pricey but so is all parking in NYC but it was convienient and efficient. The hotel was fine, the staff friendly and helpful and the room was very nice indeed.... More

I had stayed at The Lucerne years ago when it was a Barnard dormitory called The Lucerne. Being that I was in town for a Columbia reunion, I figured it was a good place to stay for nostalgic reasons. I could not have been more pleased with this place. First of all, the location is divine. It is off Broadway... More

I've been there many times at the bar and last december I was there for one night because of my job!! It was very clean and the service it was very good, the only one problem can be the room's size, my room was very small, for me it was ok because I had to stay there only for one... More

Positives: nice lobby, friendly staff, complementary wine with happy hour, location. location, location. Negatives: old furniture and carpets, very small rooms and very very thin walls plus very loud cleaning staff early in the morning. I wanted to like it more because it looks charming from the outside and lobby, but won't be back. More

This hotel does not have a lot of amenities, but the rooms were clean and comfortable. It is located in a quite (for NY) neighborhood within walking distance of the Museum of Natural History, a few cafes and bagel shops. You will not have the typical action and traffic of other NY neighborhoods. More

Hotels need to be assessed relative to the city. You will find cheaper than the Lucerne in New York, but we found the security, cleanliness, proximity and comfort worth the extra. Yes the bathroom is smallish but immaculate. Our our room and the entire hotel was spotless. That's important to us. the Lucerne is a short stroll to the subway... More

Overall the Lucerne was fine (more or less as expected, although the internet was painfully slow). But they appear to be trying to scam customers for extra charges. When we checked into our room, there was a partially drunk bottle of Evian water on the bureau and a sign saying that the charge for the water would be $6.75. I... More
