I stayed at the West Side YMCA for 3 weeks over the Christmas period in Dec 2006. I am a single female aged 35 years who loves to travel but hates to pay a fortune for what is essentially just a place to sleep at the end of a day out sightseeing. Manhattan is a very expensive city for accommodation... More

I stayed at the YMCA for 5 nights at the beginning of December. Good points: - The location was excellent, 30 seconds from central park and about 5 minutes (or less) from a subway station with all the main trainlines running through. - Sheets, towels, etc were all provided and were very clean! - Good security with receipts for left... The location is excellent, half a block from Central Park, one block from Columbus Circles, near to subway stations and great shopping area (Pottery Barns, Best Buy, Victoria Secret, Starbucks, etc.). The building is been renovated. I stayed in one of the unronovated floors. The rooms are small, but clean. Beds are small but comfortable. There was a TV with... More

December 2007. I've just returned from a weekend trip to Manhattan and stayed at the Westside YMCA. I will definitely stay there again. It is clean, with pleasant staff and a great gym. Wonderful location close to the Columbus Circle subway station and 1/2 a block from Central Park. If you are looking for luxury, this is not your place,... More

I recommend the Y if you're staying in New York on a strict budget. You get what you pay for...community bathroom and small rooms...but it was decent. I went with a college group of friends back in 2004, and it worked out well. The bunk beds just weren't all that comfortable. Great location though! If you take the stairs at... More

I stayed at the West Side Y.M.C.A. for four night recently and thought it was terrific value and in a great location. We arrived after midnight, and were greeted by a courteous, and helpful man, and given directions to our room on the 9th floor. We had already seen photos on this website of the rooms, so we weren't suprised... More

If you want 3 or 4 star treatment don't look to stay in a YMCA. If you want a warm, clean room, friendly service and somewhere to lay your head for a few nights whilst you spend your days exploring the city, then this is it. Location is great; I had one of the renovated rooms on the 13th floor... More

Very basic accommodations. I stayed with my teenage son. Bunk beds weren't very comfortable this trip. We had been warned to book the renovated rooms and I did but none were available when we arrived. I booked my room many months in advance. This is a high volume location. The elevators were under repair. Student groups stay at this hotel.... More

Just let me say that I was very inclined to give this YMCA a good review - after all I had been a member here before I left NYC for London nearly 20 years ago. I stayed on the 13th floor, which was the top floor. One lift (elevator) was out of commission although the other two were very fast... More
