The YMCA is a budget option in a fantastic location that offers young people the ideal place to stay in the heart of New York city. I've stayed at the YMCA on six occasions over the last 12 years and seen improvements every time I've stayed, this time the improvements have prompted me to leave a review. The security and... More

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in March 2015. Overall, the price for being in a nice, safe, and quiet NYC neighborhood was well worth it! We had our own room with bunk beds, dresser, closet, chair, and window. We shared 11 bathrooms with the 12th floor. Each bathroom had a toilet, sink, and shower. The hostel... More

I didn't have high expectations of this hostel. On a negative note, the bedrooms are very small. The bunk bed (top and bottom) were very noisy and squeaky enough to wake the other person up. Mattress was also not comfy however beds were made daily and bedding appeared clean. There was only one bathroom on our floor, so considering the... More

I went with a friend to spend 4 days in New York. We were told YMCA is a large chain of good american hostels. Great location, near Central Park and subway station. Good communication to main services. Kind personnel treat. We payed for private bathroom and we were scammed, so we had to use the shared ones. Our room consisted... More

I stayed on the 11th floor for 5 nights in Oct 2014, right next to the lift which I though would be noisy, but slept very well, The room was basic as you'd expect but relatively clean and tidy, The shared toilets were fine, didn't have to queue once and were clean. Exactly what I'd hope for when I booked,... More

I have spent a week at WESTSIDE YMCA in October 2014. It was a good stay as it is in a great location to go and see the city, therefore it's a good place to stay for those who only need a bed to sleep in. The rooms were small and I was cold as I slept, really disliked the... More

Perfect location and awesome gym. Security and reception 24/7. However quite old building and very cold rooms in wintertime. I wrote longer review in my blog: https://dreamerachiever.wordpress.com/2015/01/18/hotel-review-west-side-ymca-upper-westside-manhattan-nyc/

The hotel is located very close to subway and central park so it was very convenient to travel around. I booked a room with the semi private bathroom. The room is too small and not very clean and included stained carpet. The air box near the window was open and broken which made the air from outside flow inside. The... More

The most attractive things about it are the great location and the reasonable price. It is located near columbia circle and within walking distance of many famous attractions such as central park and times square. However, the room is too small, and when you take a shower, the water is too hot. When I complained the hot water to staff,... More

I went with my almost grown daughter to introduce her to Manhattan. We staid two nights in a room with bunks beds. The room was tiny, but had a small desk, towels, and a closet. Shared bathrooms were nearby and were clean. The room and common areas were neat, clean, and organized. The security desk was helpful in answering questions... More
