Lovely hotel and location. Rooms are a bit dated. Found them to be comfortable, but in need of some upgrades to flooring, pain, colors. Super Staff. Very friendly and helpful. Attached restaurant is super. Very well located on Upper East Side

While renovating our apt.we decided to stay in our neighborhood hotel. We rented a large one bedroom apt .on the top floor. The apt. was in need of upgrades esp. the bathroom and kitchen. Upon entry there was a old fashioned blind with 3 broken slats not to mention a roach and centipede the next am. We quickly ended our... More

My wife and I came to visit our daughter who lives on the upper East Side and wanted a hotel within convenient walking distance. I chose the Hotel Wales and we loved it. Beautiful old hotel in a lovely, and quite quiet, neighborhood with easy access to museums and Central Park. Expensive, no doubt, but restful, clean, well appointed. Why... More

We had a suite on the 10th floor. The bedroom was large and totally separate from the kitchen and living area which was great as we are a family of five. The rooms were very clean and the staff extremely helpful when we had questions. The rollaway bed was perfect for a four year old but probably a bit uncomfortable... More

I stayed here for three nights. Although I expect NY hotel rooms to be small, this one was somewhat disappointing for the price. There was an iron, but not enough space to set up an ironing board - and ironing on a towel on the desk is far from practical. Similarly there was a luggage rack but not enough space... More

Stayed for 3 nights on the way to Orlando, it is in a good location in a quiet area with easy access to downtown, and plenty of local cafes and eateries. Our room was pleasantly large with a second sofa area, the aircon was good but too loud to keep on all night. Overall I would come back to this... More

The hotel and rooms are nice. The elevators are small and dark. What I did not like is that our door lock was not working and it was unlocked all day after the maids left. When we discovered it would not lock we notified the front desk and someone came right up to fix it. This again happened the next... More

While planning our trip to New York, we came across this hotel and immediately fell in love. We stayed here for 5 nights and to say we were delighted is an understatement. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left, we felt as though we were part of the hotel family. The door man was so kind and... More

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at the Wales and were not disappointed in the least. Had a Jr Suite and it was wonderful. Plenty of room and great service. Breakfast at Sarabeths was delightful with our 5 year old granddaughter. Staff and facilities were first rate though I would like to have coffee making equipment in the... More

Thank you so much for your review. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay in our junior suite. This category is one of my favorites because the room is spaciousness and they offer views that face 92nd street which allows for a good nights sleep as 92nd street is quieter. Our team is thrilled that you stayed with us.... More

Ended up here on a last minute business / personal trip for three nights. We had a large room with a sitting area and desk. The hotel is older but has done well to maintain its character. Only complaint about the room was that the a/c was a window unit though and loud - a sacrifice I guess given the... More

Thank you so much for your review. I am thrilled that you enjoyed the accommodation as well as the neighborhood. We really are fortunate to be so close to many museums such as the Guggenheim, The Met, The Frick Collection and the Jewish Museum just to name a few. We look forward to seeing you again during your next trip... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
