Perfect for a family of six, (two adults, one senior & three kids) we booked the suite that sleeps six on top/10th floor. Didn't spend much time in the suite as there is so much to do in NYC but it was clean, quiet with comfortable beds. But you Have to be willing to share one small (but pleasant) bathroom!... More

Old world hotel, with all the updated amenities ! Loved the spacious room, decor and cleanliness. Had a great dinner at Sarabeths, next door. Our corner room over looked Madison Ave and a view of Central Park . Although it was noisy ( we were on 6th floor and plows cleanng up after a snow storm) I would stay here... More

Boutique hotel; great location in the Upper East side. Two adults and two children stayed in a suite for four days. The bed was comfortable. The pull out couch bed and rollaway bed were uncomfortable. The bathroom was small. Street noise was LOUD! Despite these things, the service was friendly and accommodating. Sarabeth's; the restaurant connected to the hotel, had... More

I just spent 5 days here and was extremely glad an accident of location (had to work nearby) brought me to this boutique hotel. I've stayed in hotels from 3 stars to 5 in New York and I've lived in New York and somehow this gem escaped me. This is one of the city’s best kept secrets: a hotel with... More

I originally choose Hotel Wales because it was located closest to MtSinai Hospital. I had no idea what to expect except that this was a critical time in my husbands life and my only concern. It turned out the staff at the hotel were extremely friendly, accommodating, and helpful! I came prepared for three nights but was there for 16... More

Spent 18 days at Hotel Wales in January 2015 while my wife had surgery at Mt. Sinai. The staff made me feel at home and asked daily when I returned from hospital about my wife's condition. Special thanks to Rosalyn, Patrick, Catherine, Kahn, and Cindy for making what could have been a rather lonely time while my wife was hospitalized... More

The rooms are comfortable but can be small - ask for a larger room. I had a small suite on my last stay and it was really very roomy and the extra cost was minimal. Sarabeth's is attached - great for breakfast or lunch. If you walk down the stairs, as I did, be extremely careful on the slick marble... More

I really enjoyed my stay in this boutique hotel. My room had windows on three sides and even though it was cold outside, the radiator kept the room nice and cozy. The bathroom was big by NYC standards with new fixtures. It was also the cleanest hotel bathroom I've been in recently! Some tips: free endless coffee/tea/hot cocoa on the... More

We made last minute reservations for last Monday night because of the snow storm. My husband had doctors' appointments and we were afraid we wouldn't be able to get into the City from Long Island. Then the doctors canceled. Despite the last minute change the staff could not have been more accommodating. We switched to Wednesday night for Thursday appointments.... More

Like reviewer GPBucket, we experienced the noisy clanging radiator outside a 3rd floor room at Hotel Wales during a five night stay in December. We loved the location on the Upper East Side close to Central Park. The restaurants on the ground floor – Paola and Sarabeth – were very good. Cheap and easy breakfasts across the road at Yura... Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
